Subject: Can you identify this short hymn clip? From: GUEST,Marion Date: 02 Nov 15 - 11:07 PM Hello Mudcatters! Here's a challenge for somebody familiar with hymns/gospel. In this youtube video, somebody is singing at a funeral but only a couple of seconds are audible, and I can't make out the words (sounds like "A L G"). The melody reminds me of Amazing Grace, but there's not enough to be sure and I can't think of what line in Amazing Grace would sound like "A L G". It's at 0:25 of this video: Youtube clip of funeral Thanks, Marion |
Subject: RE: Can you identify this short hymn clip? From: cnd Date: 03 Nov 15 - 12:08 AM It's a long-shot. The words she says are "When Jesus..." Hymns with the phrase "When Jesus" are not exactly few-and-far-between. A likely candidate is "When Jesus Wept," and the versions I've heard seem to have similar sounding progressions as that clip, but, of course, there are literally thousands of hymns with those two words. |
Subject: RE: Can you identify this short hymn clip? From: wysiwyg Date: 03 Nov 15 - 12:47 PM I would call the church where the funeral was held and ask if they can help. It's very likely that there was a service bulletin listing the music; these are usually produced by the church's office staff. Their choir director might also be listed in the church's website, maybe even with an email link. A call like that would be a pretty routine thing for a church secretary to field. I know ours would be happy to find out (possibly sensitively would be needed), and get back to you; just mention how moved you were by the child's service. You don't need to be a member of that (or any) church to reach out. ~Susan |
