Hi, Looking to buy good playing, used 4 string banjo for my wife to learn to play trad. Irish music on. Is this just a regular tenor banjo?

Thanks for your help. Tom

Although some players favour a 17 fret rather than the standard 19 fret.

Tom,

If you let us know your location, I'm sure several people will be able to suggest some good places to look for one.

Ed

Too late TKnapp. We've had the bonfire already!

Not sure where you're located TKnapp but here are
used ones listed in the Banjo Hangout. A buddy of mine plays a 17 fret Gold Tone openback with a White Ladye tone ring that is really sweet (and loud).

I have a friend who simply removed the un-required parts from a five-string and re-strung and re-tuned it. How successful this is I have no idea, but he plays it occasionally.
P.S. He is Irish.
