RainyCamp Folk singing weekend - in Ravensdale WA. January 29-31 2016. Online Registration is open. This is the 27th year for this camp comprised of group singing, many workshops and jams. We also had a small recording studio set up last year. Food is catered, and accommodations are in heated bunk rooms. Sleep is highly overrated this weekend with so much late-night singing going on. Wi-fi throughout for tablets and phones. The setting is on a small lake - the sunsets across the water last year were breathtaking.

Early workshops that have come arrived include Ergonomics for Singers, Songs from my Childhood, Basic Yodeling, Guess the song from the Intro, Beyond Harmony, Chicken Songs, Songs of the Northwest, Bluegrass/Country jam, Songs in other languages. This is after the first week of registration, so more will be posted.

Contact me or visit RainyCamp.org for more information.

Good to hear from you, Bruce! I'm glad to see the announcement - and I will make it again to Rainy Camp one of these years.

http://www.rainycamp.org/

Taking a look at the site for the new location, it says no mold and "No more mud! Walks between buildings are paved or gravel." Ravensdale is directly east of Kent and Auburn, between Maple Valley and Black Diamond (coal mining country, for those who know their Washington State history).

Registration here.

Maggie

Maggie - so good to hear from you. I hope you drop up for a visit. You were steeped in the tradition at an early age, and I had to catch up in college. I think Cathy said she had some video clips from 1990 or 1991, most likely of your dad. Keep your fingers crossed. We'll digitize them.

We were given clearance for louder late night singing in the main lodge and there are a couple other rooms that are pretty sweet then as well. Glad the fire marshal didn't come out last year when we practiced VW packing in the late night lounge.

Lovely spot; if we can actually sing into the the night, so much the better. We found work arounds (and some tolerant folks) last year, but it will be good to have it cleared ahead.
Blessings
Barbara

Hi Rainycamp Folk,

You may get 2 of these but I'm looking forward to another fine and vocal Rainycamp and will hope to get a new song for my musical universe from at least one singer and to give one of mine to another eager singer. This always makes any gathering an automatic success for me. Meanwhile, a most happy and healthy Thanksgiving and Winter Solstice Season to all.

      Namaste,
       Percy

More Workshops being offered: Whimsically mystical songs, Parodies, Irish, Songs for and about women. Musicals, Water songs. More to come. Spoiler -- this is Seattle Folklore Society 50th year and we are working on a time capsule from the last 50 and building one for the next 50.
