Subject: Obit: Ramona Jones From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 23 Nov 15 - 04:56 PM There was a thread on Ramona Jones last week and it was noted that she had passed on. However, the thread closed quickly, so I am posting again in the event that those who would like to know may have missed the previous thread. She died at the age of 91 at her home in Goodlettsville, TN with her family present. Ramona lived in Mountain View, Arkansas for a time and was an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of the Folk Center and local tourism at that time. Grandpa was still touring and Ramona operated a very popular dinner theater. That not only helped draw people to this area but also gave several young musicians some valuable performing experience. Subject: RE: Question: Is Ramona Jones still alive? From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 20 Nov 15 - 01:15 PM There is quite a bit on Facebook regarding Ramona's passing. I am a little surprised that there is so little on Mudcat. Here is a link to her obituary. She was a fine person as well as a good musician and performer and used her celebrity to benefit her community. She also had a close knit family which is not an easy thing for well known performers. Subject: RE: Question: Is Ramona Jones still alive? From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 19 Nov 15 - 11:04 PM Ramona lived in Mountain View for a few years and performed at her dinner theater here in town. She moved back to Nashville several years back but while living in Mountain View she put a lot of effort into promoting Mountain View and the Ozark Folk Center. Ramona and Grandpa's son, Mark lives in Mountain View and is running sound at the Center's theater. Mark is a fine banjo player in his own right. |

Subject: RE: Question: Is Ramona Jones still alive? From: BrooklynJay Date: 18 Nov 15 - 05:32 PM According to the Internet Movie Database, she is still alive at age 91. She was married to Grandpa Jones from 1946 until his death in 1998. At some point after Jones's death she married a man named W. Eugene Gober. No information on the three children she had with Jones. That site also mentions an earlier marriage for Grandpa Jones: from 1938 to 1942, he was married to one Eulalia Marie Losher. There was one child, but no further info. Was this, possibly, Grandpa's banjo-playing son? Jay |
