Monique - the attribution to Ruth Pelham was for "Under One Sky" - the song above "Mi Cuerpo." Whoever inputted the information messed it up. Sol y Canto was the first group to record this song that I know of, and it is definitely written by Gil Raldiris. Many artists initially gave a "traditional" attribution - but I think this has been corrected. Sarah Pirtle, Macaroni Soup , Tom Pease, Barb Tilsen and so many others have recorded this song. It's a winner. Brigid

Thanks for your answers. I do see that many websites credit the song to Gil Raldaris.But I wish I could verify this on his website or another source. I will contact the artist who credit the song to him and ask their source. Thanks. Eric

On this page it reads "Composed by Ruth Pelham" and on this pdf it reads that it was written by Gil Raldaris (both italics are mine). This pdf is from the group Sol y Canto website. They sings this song too so I suppose they know what they state in their leaflet. Their email is: [e-mail].

I had come across that attribution to Gil Raldiris, also. Here are Websites that attribute it to him:

I have received a mysterious comment on a youtube video of the song saying the song was composed by Gil Raldiris from Puerto Rico. However, the person who left the message did not give me a way to contact her and removed the comment. In Harry Fox it is not listed as one of his songs. And I can not find any information about Gil Raldiris to confirm this. More so, I thought it was a traditional song. Anybody have any information?

I wonder if it's from anywhere in the Spanish-speaking world: first the song only comes up on English speaking sites, then "Spanish-speaking" hands usually "say" plas plas plas not cla/clap cla/clap cla/clap, then "pies" is stressed on the "e" not the "i" so a Spanish speaker would avoid stressing it on "i" and would insert a one syllable word such as "y" and say "y mis pies" or something like that instead so that the beat fall on the stressed vowel. I don't say that the stress falling on the wrong vowel never happens (Cf "Mariá, Mariá, ven acá corriendó el chocolatilló se lo está llevandó..." in Hacia Belén va una burra but it's rare. It looks like those songs teachers make up to teach the kids the body parts or whatever else in their own language when they're very young or in a foreign language when they're a little older. Well, when I say "teachers", it may be anyone involved with children or children "business". I'd add that the song isn't in any of the Spanish songbooks for children I came across -even it's no proof of anything.
