Subject: Tech: Abbey Fine Reader 11 - settings problem
From: Jim Carroll

I have been using Abbey Fine Reader 11 to scan album booklets and sleeve notes into editable Word documents - fine up to now, but have encountered a problem.
Now, when I scan a page, check it and save it as a Word document the completed text now only fills the left hand half of the page even though the borders are set for a full page, leaving me with the labourious task of pulling the text into full page width line manually.
Up to now it has worked fine, even with columned text which, when converted into single, filled the full width of the page - now it's gone belly up and everything I scan on Abbey - just fills right hand half of page.
Have fiddled with settings, but no joy.
Is it something I said, d'you think?
Any advice would be much appreciated - still got another few hundred albums to go!
Ta in advance
Jim Carroll

Abbyy FineReader is an optical character recognition (OCR) program I'm not familiar with - I had to learn to use OmniPage at work and after months became fairly expert (at least in the tasks that I had to perform). I found that on the occasions it didn't work someone else had used the computer and software and changed the margins or other settings. Every so often I had to discover some new feature to the software to re-set it to my requirements. Do you suppose something so simple happened? Have you tried all of the various preview or pre-scan modes?

"Do you suppose something so simple happened? "
Thanks Acme - might well be that.
I think I'll have to either fiddle with the settings until I get it right or re'load the programme though I don't want to do that id I can avoid it - so much trouble loading it in the first place - though worth it when I finally managed..
I have another application ABBYY (correct spelling) 9 Sprint, which is not as versatile, but will have to do for the time being.
Thanks for your input.
