This lovely song, in spite of its title, it seems more like a hymn of praise than a lament, and the gorgeous refrain seems to be nonsense sounds (or is that normal for a coronach?). All I've been able to find out is who wrote it, who sang it, and a general and vague definition of 'coronach'. Any valid input would be cherished.

Ian a great fan of Jethro Tull but I have not heard this song. Mai I ask what album it is on?

It was written by David Palmer and was featured on a bbc documentary many years ago . It has been released as a single but has only appeared on one   Tull Compilation album. That is all I have been able to discover. It is also on YouTube.

About half-way down page 186 is the meaning of Coronach.

James Scott Skinner described his lament, "Hector the Hero" as a Coronach: "the coronach sighing through the trees".

Guest HiLo, it is on the Twenty Years of Jethro Tull; rare tracks album. I was blessed to find a copy in excellent condition at Ed McKay Books.
