Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: akenaton Date: 08 Apr 17 - 09:01 AM The best news I have heard in what has been a horrible year for my family. Thank you for letting us know Keith......I hope my hypocritical atheist prayers helped just a little.....I'm going to church fairly regularly just in case :0) Joy and happiness to Mary and yourself over this lovely news....Alex. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Donuel Date: 08 Apr 17 - 10:23 AM Excellent, here's hoping all procedures are in the past. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: keberoxu Date: 08 Apr 17 - 06:40 PM The OP on this thread stated that surgery would have been preferable but the doctors had decided against it. So I take it that to be a candidate, now, for surgery is a great improvement. So take all the improvements you can get! Continued prayers. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: keberoxu Date: 19 Apr 17 - 06:32 PM I have a little affirmation working for you, that goes: clean enough for surgery, clean enough for surgery ... with reference to your account of a scan that showed something on the artery which, if it proved cancerous, would change the surgeon's plans. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers, Keith. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: ChanteyLass Date: 19 Apr 17 - 09:34 PM It's hard to hold my breath and say a prayer at the same time, but I'm doing it. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 27 Apr 17 - 05:19 AM Home again! Here are the grisly details. It was understood that the op would be abandoned if possibility of cancer in the artery. He was able to clear the artery but not the vein so it was abandoned. I was under for 6 hours, 3 of which was working on the vein. He took many samples from all the nearby tissues and organs, and no cancer was found. That makes this a good news story, and very unusual. I will be checked for any regrowth every few months, and I should have a reasonable life expectancy now. That is a remarkable reversal of what I have been living with the last year and a half. I am very weak and sore fro the op., but much better than I was. I should be back to normal (?) in a few weeks or months. Anyway, I am safely home and being well looked after. Thanks for all your concern, kind thoughts and prayers. They worked! Keith and Mary. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: fat B****rd Date: 27 Apr 17 - 02:35 PM All of the above, Keith. Take the very best care. Charlie. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Thompson Date: 27 Apr 17 - 04:43 PM Mind yourself, Keith. By the way, do they do that DNA-targeted treatment for the particular cancer that has its teeth temporarily into you? If they can, it's supposed to mean the chemo is less sickmaking but works really well. (By the way, do you pronounce it keemo or kemmo? I've always heard keemo, but a friend who spent years in the US says kemmo.) |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: ChanteyLass Date: 28 Apr 17 - 07:58 PM Exhaling. Now saying prayers of thanks. I hope the chemo goes well. Thompson, in my part of the US, we say keemo. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 29 Apr 17 - 04:34 AM In UK it is always "keemo." I have not been offered any of the new immune treatments but there are trials I could join. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 17 Oct 18 - 05:34 AM Mary and I have had a great run including some exotic holidays since last post. We have now come to the end of the road with just weeks to go. Mercifully, no pain. I have enjoyed the music resource here, and the many discussions. I may not post again but I will try to look in. Love and best wishes to all. keith |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: DMcG Date: 17 Oct 18 - 05:49 AM I am truly sorry to hear that. Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: punkfolkrocker Date: 17 Oct 18 - 09:15 AM Keith - disagreement, squabbling, and insults, all part of the robust adversarial rough amd tumble games of mudcat BS... You will be genuinely missed; this place needs difficult characters to keep us stimulated, and stop it getting boring... Our mudcat personas often clashed hard on subjects that we care too personally about.. sorry if I ever went too far in the heat of battle... But if the real you and me had met socially, I'm sure we would have found shared interests and much in common.. Stay as comfortable as you can, and fill your time with favourite music and TV & Radio comedy shows... cheers... pfr |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: GUEST,Akenaton Date: 17 Oct 18 - 11:25 AM From: GUEST,Akenaton Date: 17 Oct 18 - 11:10 AM My dear good friend, your news has devastated me, I Just hope a mistake has been made and you make a recovery. My heart goes out to Mary at this time as I know exactly how she will be feeling. I e'mailed Joe this morning to try to make it possible for me to contact you, after reading the message on the other section. When you first told us about your diagnosis, I said that I never met a stronger or straighter person and if anyone could fight it you were the man......so it proved, in health and on these pages. Brave and strong against sometimes overwhelming odds, but always courteous and well informed. If the worst does happen Keith, I just want you to know how much I appreciated your kindness and support...on the forum and in personal matters by personal message. I will certainly never forget you. "The friend you never met"........Alex. |

As one who has enjoyed robust exchanges with you in the past - sometimes agreeing, sometimes not - I wish you the best of luck in coping with what life is now throwing at you. He's not going to get better. While I've found the combination of you and Jim extremely annoying, every life is a gift, and even the stuff I don't like contributes to the big "everything". Enjoy your time - it's all any of us can do. |
