Subject: Obit: Gil Hyatt/Comedian 60's,Quebec From: GUEST,Paul Henry Dallaire Date: 05 Jan 16 - 06:16 PM Does any one remember a comedian who played with Jimmy James in the 60's. His name is Gil Hyatt ? (Rubber face) I saw him last at the Franklin Hotel managed by Gates Lepine the same bartender who gave Stompin' Tom his first beer and job at the famed Maple leaf Hotel in Timmins. He played a D-28 Martin flat-top rhythm guitar and was Jimmy's right hand man on stage. His gimmick was to stretch his bottom jaw up to just below his eyes. Man he was funny. He was talented, just disappeared. Apparently he was a veteran of the second world war and was shell shocked which gave him a nervous tick on stage and was un-predictable of what he would do next ha ha. When he finished his show he would turn his guitar around and it would say THANK YOU in the back of it. I wish I could find something out about him. You know people when they die they take their talent with them and sometimes never even got recognized, Gil Hyatt (Rubber face)is one of those people. Paul Henry Dallaire |
