And tonight, Tuesday 26 January, the BBC will reluctantly reveal a glimpse of the Folk Connections festival on Radio 3 Late Junction 11:00pm.

Verity Sharp told fRoots magazine;

So Tuesday's Late Junction is live with Nancy Kerr and James Fagan in the studio sharing some of the music they're interested in. Quite a bit of Australian stuff which is nice, especially since it turns out it's Australia Day! (quite unplanned).

Wednesday's LJ features a live session from Leveret with those three also bringing along a choice track.

Thursday's LJ isn't folky.

The Voice of the People programme on Saturday at 3pm is a canter through the subject of song collecting past and present. Guests on the programme are Fay Heild, John Howson, Andy Letcher, Thomas McCarthy and Emily Portman.

Record Review on Saturday morning will feature a bit about recent-ish folk releases - probably The Gloaming, Stick in the Wheel, Leveret, James Yorkston and the next in the VoTP series.

VLC works very well with this and ffplayer which loads with ffmpeg - also free, and audacity will record the audio if required. I haven't got my head around recording audio with ffmpeg, but it can be done - even with full video streams.
