I'm looking for a recording of the song Muirnín na Gruaige Báine.

Lyrics (found here):

Mo léan gan mé agus tú,
a mhaighdean óg gan chumha,
in oileánaibh dubha Loch Éirne;
nó faoi choillte dubha na slat
mar a ndéanaid na héanlaith nead,
agus fásach go barra géaga;
nó i ngleanntáinín cois cuain
mar a labhraíonn an chuach
'gus an fharraige ó thuaidh bheith taobh linn;
mise féin 's mo rún
gan codladh ann ná suan,
ach ag súgradh i gclúid a chéile.

Mo léan gan mé sa gcill
i bhfochair mo chairde gaoil,
nó i mullach cnoic ag déanamh árais,
sul fár tharla tú im líon
ag dúbailt cnead im chroí,
agus d'iompaigh tú mo dhlaoi mar airne;
cumann gearr ó mhnaoi,
ní mhaireann sé ach mí
mar shiolla den ghaoith Mhárta;
agus a stór, níor chóir mé a dhíol
mar gheall ar bheagán maoin'
'gus feasta liom bíodh t'intinn sásta.

Níor fhág mise baile cuain
ó Chorcaigh anuas
nó as sin go Cruach Phádraig,
thart ó dheas anuas
go Béal an Easa Rua
nár chaitheas ar mo chuairt ann ráithe;
mar shúil go bhfaighinn tuairisc
phéarla an chúil dualaigh
's í an ainnir rug bua thar mhná í;
is gur i dtórainn Chill Dá Lua
a scaras le mo ruan,
's í Muirnín na gruaige báine í.

And there look to be different lyrics for this song at duchas.ie:

Have you tried the online indices at Irish Traditional Music Archive ? A first run shows the song in a number of printed sources but no sound recordings. Their holdings are pretty comprehensive - as is the online catalogue, at this stage.

Regards

I have this song in several printed versions but no recording. The words in your link are much the same as in Walsh's Irish Popular Music.

This link, http://billhaneman.ie/AFH/AFH-VII.html, presumably from one of Captain O'Neill's books, compares the tune to that of Dobbin's Flowery Vale and there are several examples of that song on YouTube.

Martin and Guest,

Thanks for your responses. Seems like I'll have to wait on a recording of this song for the time being. I've found sources which provide the tune, so when I'm more confident of my pronunciation of Irish I'll simply sing it along with the tune.
