Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: FreddyHeadey Date: 05 Feb 16 - 07:27 PM What countries are you all in? I'm in the UK. (Lloyd "not available") |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: GUEST,# Date: 05 Feb 16 - 07:15 PM tablyricfm@gmail.com The only email address for them I could find. |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: Anglo Date: 05 Feb 16 - 06:41 PM I stand 100% with Tim. Obviously ALL. The graphic is the cover of The Great Australian Legend. Also Chrome on Mac. I came back to the thread, checked other posts more carefully, went back to the website and indeed, the YouTube version of Raymond Crooke played right after it ended. Not so good IMHO. I tried the same thing on Safari and got exactly the same result. I have done this a few times now and haven't seen an error message, only the "Lyrics not available" notification. |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: GUEST,Jon Date: 05 Feb 16 - 06:12 PM As far as I can see the link starts a "play list" on Youtube. The first should be the A L Lloyd one but it is "bouncing" (I get "An error has occurred") for some of us and moving on to the next track. There is another version that follows the R Crooke one. |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: Richard Mellish Date: 05 Feb 16 - 05:00 PM I get "An error has occurred" appearing for a fraction of a second, followed by the Raymond Crooke performance. This with both Firefox and Chrome. |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Feb 16 - 01:26 PM Could be. I am on a Mac too, but my ISP is Firefox. |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: RTim Date: 05 Feb 16 - 01:12 PM Yes - very odd! When I go to the link - and press the > button, I get the YouTube version as sung by Bert. I cannot get the video with Cooke UNTIL after the Lloyd clip is finished??? I am using Chrome on a Mac, so it may have to do with browser and platform?? Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Feb 16 - 01:04 PM Well, I have now logged on it three or four or even more times, and have ONLY got the Raymond Crooke rendition every time, without a hint of Bert Lloyd preceding it. Something odd going on somewhere! ≈M≈ |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: RTim Date: 05 Feb 16 - 12:58 PM I see now that a second version comes up and is played - after the Bert Lloyd version. I did not see this when I first looked at the original link! Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: RTim Date: 05 Feb 16 - 12:55 PM I don't know what you guys are talking about!! Yes Michael - I do know what A.L.Lloyd sounded like!! The clip you mention above ie. http://www.tablyricfm.com/Jim-Jones-At-Botany-Bay-tab-Lyrics-fm-A.L.-Lloyd Is Definitely Bert Lloyd!! Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Feb 16 - 12:39 PM Yes -- Raymond Crooke it is, I found by googling him. Very good Oz singer, new to me, who does a good version of Bluey Brink, &c. But you must admit that the tablyric URL I found [see OP], definitely specifies A.L. Lloyd -- whose track, as Freddy found, was unavailable. (Don't know how well you know Bert's work, Tim; but he never sounded anything like that.) So what exactly is going on at Sod's HQ? ≈M≈ |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: FreddyHeadey Date: 05 Feb 16 - 12:18 PM I don't know how that tablyric site is supposed to work but the ytube which played for me in the UK was Raymond Crooke Raymond Crooke The only A L Lloyd track if found says "not available" Lloyd It is on Spotify though. Lloyd, spotify |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: RTim Date: 05 Feb 16 - 11:12 AM I would say that the singing is most definitely A.L. Lloyd!! I.M.H.O. Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: An online singer misattribution From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Feb 16 - 10:58 AM I was looking for it BTW by train of thought, as it's the song being sung on the Tarantino·film/broken·Martin thread, and I recalled having first heard the song on one of Bert's Topic records oh-so-long ago. |
Subject: An online singer misattribution From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Feb 16 - 10:46 AM This contact which I found by following an online link http://www.tablyricfm.com/Jim-Jones-At-Botany-Bay-tab-Lyrics-fm-A.L.-Lloyd claims to be of Bert Lloyd singing "Jim Jones at Botany Bay". It's none-too-badly sung at that; but that sure as hell is never Bert Lloyd. Anyone know who it is, or the source of the video? ≈M≈ |
