Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 25 Jun 21 - 07:46 AM I am sorry but I am not very clear on the meaning of the last two posts here.....please clarify...Felipa and selby . Thank you. David |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST Date: 25 Jun 21 - 09:46 AM I neglected to add that I will keep everyone informed of Covid restrictions which could affect our meetings. We will operate fully within government procedures , rules and regulations in the interests of health and safety. David |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 25 Jun 21 - 11:30 AM I thought that the idea was that restrictions were to ne lifted July 19th and that meant that singing together and basic association could then return to normal? We strictly speaking have not been able to return to folk club style singing during this shut down August 1st and 8th should permit this without facial shields unless some drastic events prevents it We have to return to normal sometime and hopefully a good percentage will have grabbed a jab Ray |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: Raggytash Date: 25 Jun 21 - 11:42 AM With the current upturn in Covid cases in the UK (over 90,000 cases in the past week) I can see another lock-down being in place before the end of the summer. |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,Malcolm Storey Date: 25 Jun 21 - 10:01 PM I'm with Raggy on this one |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 26 Jun 21 - 12:51 AM So should visitors to Whitby in August stay at home? Time will tell and when do you two reckon we will return to normal? There is a terrific ground swell of people who are looking for a return to normal Ray We will never see in our life time see a nil return on Covid, vaccinations will continue, people will be infected, people will die I think that is inevitable ~ life must go on |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 26 Jun 21 - 03:18 AM The debate surrounding the decision to continue or remove Covid Restrictions will continue for a very long time. I am of the opinion that a premature return to 'normality' could undermine all the measures and sacrifices made previously by so many . To wait a while longer could only be for the good in spite of the hardship caused to individuals .their livelihoods and way of life . Health and safety are more important than expedient measures taken now. We enjoy our live music but it's delay in commencing is a small price to pay in these unfortunate times. Mr.Johnson said that he wanted the restrictions to be the very final ones with no return to the previous status quo....let us hope so but time will tell. David. |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 26 Jun 21 - 10:00 AM I said from the outset that it is a fine balance between "opening up" and dampening down ~ many will die and many businesses will fail Pleased that many professional folk acts have gone for "online" but that does nothing for the other vast numbers of performers who are doing nowt Ray |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 08 Jul 21 - 04:36 AM On Sunday 1st August we are due to recommence our free informal singing and musicians sessions at the Polka Hop pub in Wakefield. The music takes place from informally placed tables and chairs in the pub....no stage. Following the latest easing of Covid restrictions I still have misgivings about the safety of participants and audience as I believe the restrictions are being lifted too soon . Social distancing , the wearing of masks and the advisability of singing in public are legally allowed. I simply wondered what the views are of others...organisers, bar owners and staff, singers, instrumentalists and audience . Will your sessions be starting up again immediately or later or not at all ? Do you propose continuing with any or all of the previous restrictions ? Have you any other views and observations ? I feel sure we would all wish to see the start up of live music but it must be in a climate which ensures the health and safety of all. Thankyou David |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 08 Jul 21 - 11:53 AM I spoke to banjo Alan a day or so ago and we intend to attend ~ Kev will very likely be there Many a slip but that is current state David Ray |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 14 Jul 21 - 07:35 AM I would still be very interested to hear the views of others regarding the potential restart of their folk sessions DAVID |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 14 Jul 21 - 01:26 PM August 1st is Yorkshire day I think Ray |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 16 Jul 21 - 04:39 AM At the risk of repeating myself and being extremely boring,,,,,,I ask again.....are your music clubs and more informal music sessions in pubs etc resuming as normal after the latest easing of restrictions on July 19th ? I very much look forward to your opinions and comments please DAVID |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 16 Jul 21 - 10:42 AM David I have a meeting at Barnsley for the Bfc on July 20th ~ Trades Club townened ~ Wakefield on August 1st Sunday will have at least me and Alan Jones, others will have to make their own mind up and as to whether a mask is needed Ray Other clubs invited to tell us what they are doing |

Don’t forget you could get hit by a blue tommorow and most folkies are old and have had two jabs |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,DAVID NUTTALL Date: 22 Jul 21 - 04:10 AM Our informal folk song and tunes sessions will resume on the first and third Sundays of each month at 1.30 p.m at the Polka Hop Pub in Wakefield.....starting on 1st and 15 th August. Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: GUEST,Alan Jones Date: 22 Jul 21 - 04:16 AM I will be there, It has been a long 18 months without any sessions. I am now double vaccinated and ready to play. |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: r.padgett Date: 22 Jul 21 - 10:12 AM I am also double jabbed and will be there Sunday from 1.30pm It is Yorkshire Day Ray |
Subject: RE: Wakefield, Sunday mixed folk sessions From: MoorleyMan Date: 28 Jul 21 - 12:16 PM I am double-jabbed, and very keen to return to these wonderful sessions. It has been a long and lonely time... All credit to David N for getting them going again. However, being in the "vulnerable" and "compromised immune system" category, I personally still do not and cannot feel safe in any similarly confined space, especially one which is likely to be patronised by the obstinately unjabbed minority. Let alone using "the facilities", however assiduous and covid-compliant the management of the premises will undoubtedly be. Not to mention the form-filling, bureaucratic test-and-trace, trick-or-treat rigmaroles and (still highly discomforting but necessary) mask-wearing. Too much risk after a stressful 40-mile car journey methinks... sorry folks, but you won't be seeing me for awhile yet. Enjoy yourselves! |
