Perhaps one of you clever people could help me on this one:

I am trying to transpose a song that has a spoken line in the middle, in rhythm. I can express it in abc and pdf by putting [K: clef=P] before the line and by putting ^ before each spoken note, but when I create the midi, the midi wants to play that note on a musical pitch, which is not what I want. Is there anyway of telling the midi to change in mid-midi, so to speak. Here is one verse of the song that is giving me grief:

X:1
T:I was there a-watching them
M:4/4
L:1/4
K:A

w: Off they bolt-ed, it was a pan-to-mime. But I've got a ti-cker as is worth six quid, and I was watch-ing all the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

When I am making a MIDI file and want to add a line of drum sound, I simply use the tonic of the key the song is in. For example, if it's in the key of D, I select a drum (such as the Melodic Tom),use the D that's in the middle of the bass clef. It doesn't really sound like musical notes.

I should add that the sound I get when I use that low tonic would be similar to that of a man speaking.

Could you show me by editing that abc above, or doesn't it work like that?
