Subject: RE: Folk In The Chapel, Lewes 27/03/16 From: Vic Smith Date: 26 Mar 16 - 08:10 AM Folk In The Chapel, The Westgate Chapel, 92a High Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1XH Sunday 27th March at 2,30 Concert will include:- STUART COUPEClick here to see a photo. Whether based around stories from the world's wisdom traditions, or inspired by British broadside ballad or folk lyrics, Stuart's acoustic guitar orientated songs gently span traditional folk and contemporary boundaries. He is based in Horsham, West Sussex, UK and has recently produced an album of new material called 'Some Sense of Reaching.' "It is a quite beautiful, extensive and truly poetic album in feel and execution – and some of the lines are 'stop and consider' moments. Bob Dylan said, and I crudely paraphrase, that when Hank Williams sings we should put aside everything and listen – well, I would say similar with Stuart's album." – Stewart Henderson, Poet and Radio 4 Presenter. 'Unique, thought provoking songs with mesmerizing guitar playing. A delightfully relaxed style with subtle humour thrown in; we all look forward to his next visit.' – Seaford Folk Club. |
Subject: RE: Folk In The Chapel, Lewes 27/03/16 From: Vic Smith Date: 28 Mar 16 - 05:53 AM We were rather concerned about what the size of the audience might be - Easter Sunday and a wild storm and heavy downpour just before the start, but the Chapel was full and the audience saw a superb concert of excellent performances. Many thanks to Stuart, Rosie, Rowan, Iris and Marilyn. |
