The late Odar Kongar-ol is my particular favourite and put him together with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and you have something really special.

This is the old favourite - guaranteed to gladden the soul. I recall Zappa had these musicians in the studio jamming with The Chieftains at one point - or was I dreaming??

There's a magnificent version of a Mongolian horseman using this technique on A.L.Lloyd's 'Folk Song Virtuoso', a BBC radio programme from back in the sixties - (the programme was put up for download here on Mudcat a year or so ago).
Also, Jean Jenkins included it on her Argo Album of Mongolian singing

I've heard that style of singing from Mongolians first hand on the street. I didn't really pick up on the overtone aspect of it at the time.

I just stumbled across this and thought I might share it with some of my Mudcat friends. It was certainly an eye/ear opener for me!
