Subject: NEW DISCOVERY! Rob. mason, his galiard From: Stower Date: 31 Mar 16 - 08:47 AM The release date for this is 1st April, but with the different time zones for Mudcatters, my timing is an approximation. I'm excited to give a sneak preview of a paper I'm presenting about the Elizabethan manuscript, "robert mason, his Booke". It consists largely of lists of building materials, with one previously unknown lute duet in poor handwriting. I've written an article with a video reconstruction of Rob Mason's music, which I've played on lute. This will form my talk to the Association of Professional Renaissance Instrument Luthiers at the Festival Of Organological Lutherie. Please do have a look and a listen. The tune may even sound familiar. You'll find the article and accompanying video at the top of this page. |

Rob. mason, his galiard From: TheSnail Date: 31 Mar 16 - 01:46 PM Perhaps we will get a performance of this exellent and rare piece on 23rd April when The Night Watch (Andy Casserley and Ian Pittaway) appear at Lewes Saturday Folk Club. I think the dedicated scholarship shown here gives us an idea of what sort of evening to expect. |
