Subject: Ruth B - great song: Lost Boy From: meself Date: 02 Apr 16 - 11:14 AM I have an aversion to grown-up songs that heavily reference the nursery, but I found this song & performance moving. Apparently, I'm a little late jumping on board - there are well over a million hits on youtube, there have been TV appearances, etc., but I just heard this song on the radio this morning. I would just listen without the video first time 'round - nothing wrong with the video; it's tastefully done, like the song, but I found it distracting, with the graceful girl with the big brown eyes and me trying to figure out if that's the North Saskatchewan River in the background (she's from Edmonton, Alberta): Lost Boy. My apologies if it's not your cup of tea! |

Subject: RE: Ruth B - great song From: GUEST,# Date: 02 Apr 16 - 11:39 AM meself, I doubt it's the N Sask River. There are a few other of Ruth B's songs on YouTube and in one a clearer picture of the background skyline is presented and it ain't Edmonton. Also, I don't think boats that size run on the river. (However, I could be worng :-)) |

Subject: RE: Ruth B - great song From: meself Date: 02 Apr 16 - 02:49 PM No, I'm sure you're right - I didn't watch much of the video, just listened. But I did catch a glimpse of that big barge or whatever it is, and it occurred to me I'd never seen that on the N. Sask. In case that blinkie didn't blinkify: Lost Boy. Btw, for some reason, I didn't find the Bruce Murdoch videos as distracting ... ! |

Subject: RE: Ruth B - great song: Lost Boy From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Apr 16 - 07:34 PM I really tried to like it... I thought maybe it was because I didn't like the music of the "younger people." But I had to edit songs that people of a younger generation chose for the Rise Again Songbook, and I liked almost every one of those. The lyrics in those songs were challenging to the mind, many quite clever; and the melodies were memorable. Too much sameness in this "Lost Boy" song for my taste, both in lyrics and melody. But I really did try. -Joe- |

Sincerely, Gargoyle In the rhetorical world (Clinton/Obama/Trump/BBC/CBS) it is commonly accepted that the "masses are asses" .... the great winnowing of chaff is proving it so. |
