Subject: Two events in Lewes in the next week.
From: Vic Smith
Date: 20 Apr 16 - 03:44 PM

Sunday 24th April at 2.30pm

The Westgate Chapel, 92a High Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1XH.
Folk In The Chapel Concert will include -

RATTLE ON THE STOVEPIPE

Click here to see a photo of them.

The entire concert will be performed by this excellent trio. -

DAVE ARTHUR (banjo, guitar, melodeon, vocals) PETE COOPER (fiddle, viola, vocals) DAN STEWART (guitar, banjo)
RATTLE ON THE STOVEPIPE explore the interwoven worlds of traditional British and Appalachian songs, ballads, and music. Morris dances flow into their Old Time Appalachian counterparts, Minstrel songs brought to Britain in the 19th century are resurrected via the singing of Cotswold rural labourers, while English jigs and Scottish pipe tunes evolve into fiddle and banjo reels, while 18th century British ballads, as heard from source singers in the mountains and 'hollers' of Kentucky, Georgia and N.Carolina, reappear in more democratic guise.
The musical backgrounds of the three band members make them uniquely qualified to explore this fascinating cross-cultural area.

Wednesday 27th April at 8.00pm

The Westgate Chapel, 92a High Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1XH.
Folk In The Chapel presents

A MULTIMEDIA SHOW

BOB COPPER: "A GENTLEMAN OF HIGH RENOWN"

Click here to see a poster.

Vic & Tina Smith worked with Bob Copper over 35 years on a variety of projects – radio and television programmes, books, magazine articles, contacts through folk clubs, concerts, festivals singarounds as well as other times spent in his company
The show includes stories, video clips, recordings, extracts from radio programmes, photos and other items and was devised as a tribute to the man to mark the centenary of his birth.

The Show lasts 90 minutes will be presented with an interval.

We have been informed that members of The Copper Family will be there on the evening..... which is going to be pretty scary for us. I suppose we may be able to prevail on them for a song at the end - provided they are happy about what we have said about their iconic relative.

Well done Vic,
I hope Jim Carroll can make it, I am sure he would like a show about Bob Copper.
