I believe the french sessions in Bath sessions & Bristol sessions have dancing.
And there is always the French session at Chippenham FF (Sunday night).
And a lot of sessions if there is a square metre where I attend!

Step dancing is alive and well in lots of the Suffolk pubs. Come to the Blaxhalll Ship on a Wednesday.

I think it's called the Yacht Club. Next to the bandstand at the bottom of the Khyber pass.
It fills the gap between the progammed lunch time and early evening sessions leaving no time to eat - the bar serves tea and probably sandwiches.

Also Sat May 28th at Chester FF

Of course this is traditional in English pubs. Step dancing was often part of any musical gatherings, either one person solo or two standing opposite competing, men and women. Unfortunately step dancing seems to have died out in most areas since WWII.

At the recent Folk Weekend Oxford, I found 2 opportunities to dance in music sessions which was very nice. It's quite rare though – often music sessions don't have enough room for dancing, the floor isn't right or there's no one to dance with. I'm sure some of the musicians would love to be "accompanied" by some people dancing?

So I got to thinking that with just a tiny bit more organisation it could happen more often? EG, in some parts of the country, there are "Skittle Alleys" with excellent floors and these areas are often empty. I'm sure I've been to occasional music and dance sessions at the Somerset Arms in Cheltenham

Anyone interested in trying to make more of this happen?
