Hi all
I just discovered this site yesterday while I was searching for song lyrics that my grandmother used to sing to us when I was a child. I was so happy to find some long-forgotten words to her favourite songs and I was hoping someone would be able to help me out with another one that I haven't been able to track down..

The lyrics that I can remember go like this (not much to go on I know):

I remember the little brown house on the hill
Where I spent all my days long ago
And the musical sound of the murmuring brook
That beside that brown house used to flow

Chorus:
It was shabby and old and in wintertimes cold

It may help some to know where you're grandma's from or a general tune it went to so we can find out if it's derived from another song.

She was from County Donegal in the north of Ireland! She would be 100 years old this year if she was still with us :)

Sorry, I can't find much that seems to match. Read the following poems to see if they ring any bells.

I can also find references to 2 songs copyrighted in 1914 and 1920 as follows:

1914: Heichhold ( F. F. ) Little brown house on the hill. 11677 (LOC number, maybe?)

1920: Huntington (E. S. S.) Little brown house on the hill. 12940.

But I can't find these two songs. Sorry
