Subject: Hi-Tech uncovers Medieval Music @Oxford! From: katlaughing Date: 07 Dec 99 - 07:28 PM Heard an increibly fascinating program, yesterday morning on Morning Edition on NPR about the following: Host Lynn Neary talks with Margaret Bent and Andrew Wathey, directors of the Digital Image Archive of Medieval Music at Oxford University. They're using modern techniques to recover and restore music not heard in 500-600 years. The music has been buried in other manuscripts or used in a variety of other non-musical ways, but with digital cameras and computers, it can now be heard by modern ears. (7:20) Here's a link to the program. It is WELL WORTH THE LISTEN! kat |
