Make sure you have an external backup before signing up to an Apple Music subscription.

A comment on this blog from a post on another forum:

"I have a few friends and associates who make their living by their music and one of them found iTunes store was selling his music when he had never contacted them. He did contact them and demand all royalties be forwarded and they cease and desist from their actions. They did. Moral of the story, don't use Apple and you've got all the power you need, you can stick it to them and collect royalties and possibly penalties on illegally distributed content."

Thanks for the warning.

I have been making and editing music files using MIDI for many years. Such work is vulnerable, and I've become very leery of downloading anything that might interfere with my work.

I don't think it's malice. I think that the big firms can't conceive of anybody who's interested in anything but commercial recordings by (semi)famous names.

Sometimes a Catter will post a link to a program by the BBC on folk music. I've found that if I connect to the BBC, it will turn off the MIDI for Noteworthy Composer. Say what!? How dare they sneak inside my computer and disconnect things they know nothing about?

This is just another reason that emphasises the necessity to use separate computers dedicated to ideally single purposes.

eg: a music production PC that is only ever connected to the internet
as a last resort if no other means is provided for registering and updating specialist software.

eg: a media player entertainment centre PC that only stores files that are safely backed up elsewhere.
If this computer dies or gets malware - no fatal problem,
It is relatively expendable.

I'd guess that this is your Flash Player doing it, not the BBC.

The version of Flash I have is too old to support BBC content and I've never had any similar problem.

Apple did not "steal" his music. To do what he claimed would require him to go through 7 separate keystrokes in dialogue boxes and then empty his trash bin.

I go "Off Line" for most everything that I use...when I use it.

My experiences go back to Mudcat, DOS 3.0, and the peculiar updates of "ET Phone Home" with "Back Oriface and Butt Plug."

I use FF 34 mostly and don't allow any Add-on on it. I programme my websites in JavaScript and cannot debug that in newer versions, And haven't found anyone to advise me why (on forums).

My IE11 does have Flash installed but I don't do Midi and I don't see any problems traceable to Flash otherwise.

I use a BT (aka Fon) Hotspot and believe me - it is slower than dial-up (whatever that was!) when it wants to be - frequently. So much so I have been in the position of a few of my audience and addressed one aspect on all my websites - download speed.
