Yep! No argument with that at all. It's interesting to note that Jagger was the second choice as front man. (Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do!) He turned it down.

well imo they went downhill after little red rooster and the probable murder of brian jones.
i believe it was sonny boy williamson who said those white boys want to play the blues so bad and thats just what they do. bill wyman[bill perks] went to the same school as me, he is ok and charlie watts was always a good drummer,i get the impression music means a lot to keith richards, mick jagger is a conservative poser, and the music they have made for a long time is average, years ago they had a few good hits. i prefer this

I have met two of the Stones now. I interviewed Bill Wyman a while back for the BBC. His heart is in the right place as his blues odyssey collection shows, and the Stones were responsible for Muddy Waters UK and European career. Ron is a down to earth guy with a great respect for his Gypsy roots. They have made a lot of money, I reckon they would still be on the road if they hadn't like the rest of us. That's the luck of the drawer. The Rolling stones were named after Muddy Waters Rolling Stone Blues. However you are right Jagger can't sing a note.

NickDow is imo a better musician than Ronnie Wood.
imo the rolling stones and that ordinary singer mick jagger are just establishment members of the pop industry who pose as being alternative, they sold out long ago,

Blimey! Never thought about that! I suppose as a wagon painter Ron Wood was the top of the tree, I remember the whole of Appleby Fair was buzzing with the news. As a Folksinger I just want everybody to love the songs as much as I do,and have a great night, that's why I bother.

"And if it's not one of the increasingly weird colours you find on paint colour charts"...it will be.

"Nick Dow best known for restoring a Gypsy Caravan for Ronnie Wood is interviewed by Dean Sullivan"
Nick, is that how you see yourself? Or a folk musician?

Mo the Caller's mis-reading of the title has weedled it's way into my brain and I'm now wondering what colour is 'Rushcart'?

And if it's not one of the increasingly weird colours you find on paint colour charts, then it ought to be.

So am I. If anybody is interested in painting I did this for Channel 4 a while back. Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill) is doing the narration

If you have the time could touch up Hughie Jones's naff ends when you do the Everyman Folk Club Liverpool tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Good idea! The old lads used to tie a plank of wood to the back and sit the kids on it down hill. That would go down well with the health and safety jobworths in this day and age. If the weather holds I'll start it next week if I can.

It certainly goes at a bit of a lick downhill. We were playing for Wrigley Head at the event last year and it was too fast to process to on the downhill sections.
I think that it was getting a bit dangerous so they are putting more people on the rear staves this year.

Yes, I know. But that doesn't stop me misreading the title.

And I assume there must be a bridge of some sort or the town wouldn't have the name.

Sowerby Bridge is a town.

Churches used to have rushes on their floors, and once a year or so, parishioners would replace the rushes. In time, music and fun were added to the activity to make a festival.

The rushes were carried to the church in a rushcart, which naturally has to be decorated. Half the fun of a festival is decorating things.

Nick, good luck with your pinstriping.

Is Sowerby Bridge like the Forth Bridge, and how long does it take to paint it?

Sorry - keep misreading the thread title.

Nice job this! Just thought I would blow my own trumpet for once. I am re-lining the shafts and wheels with triple line pinstripes, and triple lining the naff ends and wheel fellies. I'm under strict instructions to keep my enthusiasm under control and not to get carried away.
A nice coat of UV Varnish should keep the Morris Clogs from chipping the wheels.
I'm taking on a few paint jobs so posters for your events or painted signs for your folk club etc I'm your man. Here endeth the advert.
