Emile Ford has died today. I never met the man but played for a short spell in reincarnation of the Checkmates led by Raye Du-Val, drummer in Ford's last line-up.

Remember his no. 1 - "What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For?" - a big hit in 1959.

I remember the song well. Harder to remember though who's left.

I once tried to write 'What do you want to make the Sizewell B for?'
but foundered after the first line.

Well - here you go:

Oh what do you want to make the Sizewell B for,
When we don't trust nuclear power?
You plonked it on the Suffolk coast -
I don't know whether it's you or it we hate the most.

You're fooling around with nature,
And it will mess with you again some day.
But that's all right - just play with your dynamite,
And you'll end up as part of a bright white light.

So what do you want to make the Sizewell B for,
When we don't trust nuclear power?
