Subject: RE: Tech: How to deal with YouTube Blocker ???? From: FreddyHeadey Date: 13 May 16 - 06:36 AM I'm in the UK, haven't seen this yet. I've not looked at the settings options for ages and I don't know if it'll help make a decision but on their page We keep your personal information private and safe – and put you in control. it says "We have easy-to-use tools that help you control how Google works for you. ... With our data controls, in Activity Controls, you can manage the types of data we collect, including your Search, YouTube, and location activity." |
Subject: Tech: How to deal with YouTube Blocker ???? From: GeoffLawes Date: 13 May 16 - 06:04 AM Recently. when I have tried to access a YouTube music video a screen appears over the video area and blocks the video from playing . The blocking screen carries the message "A privacy reminder from YouTube, a Google company" The screen blocker over videos offers generalised information about how Youtube will collect information from your computer to help it target advertisements but it also says "We'll need you to do this in order to continue using Google services." The end of this blocking process is a button which needs to be clicked saying " I AGREE" It seems that Youtube are determined to get me to give them permission for something before allowing me to access videos. I do not want to give a vague blanket permission to anyone which allows them to deal in information about me. Am I being too cautious or, if not, is there any way round the blocking device? |
