Original manuscripts (shown online as from 1908-1909) of black folk lyrics that E.C. Perrow used for his "Songs and Rhymes from the South" (1912-1915) are online, such as this version of "Funky Butt":

On that page some are shown as from 1908, some as from 1909, and some as "undated." Perrow gave years (1907, 1909, etc.) in the 1910s multipart article.

TY Joseph, this is gr8. Not much is know about Perrow. I tried to do a bio on him but there wasn't much information. When he taught at Louisville, he was regarded as a bit of a maverick.

The entire 3 segments of Songs of the South are on my site here with a brief bio: http://www.bluegrassmessengers.com/songs-and-rhymes.aspx

I started to edit it but never finished,

Richie

If anyone doesn't know, Richie's site has all sorts of great resources on it, such as
