Subject: song from childhood From: mkebenn Date: 27 Jun 16 - 12:32 PM I have had a song in my head for days, and I can't remember much about it. To date this critter, it was on AM radio in the days when I'd clip an alligator clip with a wire attached to a cylinder with an antenna on it( a crystal radio, if I remember, 1958) or so. It concerned a child (boy girl?) on a subway track with the light of the train bearing down on him/her. The brother/sister is calling, trying to save. I know this is not much, and searching the net has gotten me nowhere. There are enough folk of my vintage here that this may tickle someones memory. I seem to remember it more as popular rather than folk, certainly not trad. Any help or clue would be not only appreciated, but the first. Thanks, Mike |

Subject: RE: song from childhood From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Jun 16 - 12:33 AM Gee, Mike. I sure can't think of anything. The approaching train is a familiar theme in folkdom, but usually with stream trains. I'll add a detail or two the thread title. Maybe that will help. -Joe- |

From: Helen Date: 28 Jun 16 - 03:34 PM Hi Mike, This might not help, but it is a list of songs about trains If you don't recognise the title from the list, you could contact the person who made the list and ask him if he knows the tune. Wiki article: Songs about trains Good luck with your search. I'm sure there will be some clues soon. Mudcatters are good at clues, and musical detective work. Helen |
