Subject: The Battle of Beotibar, 1321 From: Jack Campin Date: 10 Aug 16 - 05:14 AM I had never heard of this till I came across a query about the Basque syntax of the last line on a language forum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2_EZrZYQ50 http://www.buber.net/Basque/Music/Song/beot.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beotibar It's supposed to be the oldest mediaeval Basque song. Catchy tune. Basque is an easy language to pronounce so most singers could do it in the original. It's the same sort of heroic ballad as the Breton "An Alarh", but a lot shorter. |
