Hi..I changed my university password and all of a sudden I can not use outlook. I have been working with IT remotely and we are not getting anywhere. He thinks it is a cable or a port..which is a moot point because they are put up so high I can not reach them..not only are they too high they are in a box you have to reach into. I would have to be seven feet tall to access them.

Anyway, the rest of my internet is at a normal speed. I think it has to do with resetting my password.    I do like office support says and go into file account settings account settings email tab, click chane. THen it says enter your new password in the password box. I do not see a password box.

Also the people here say they can not possibly move the high up router because wires are too short. I said why don't we get connectors and put in longer wires and move the router down so I can reach it. They said they would loose power. I think they are b.s.ing me as they have done in the past..what do people think?

I believe your greater problem is with coherence. That post made no sense at all.

MG, are you using outlook.com, or the Outlook software that comes with Microsoft Office?

Go to another computer and log onto your email there. Check to see that it's all working on that end. Then you have narrowed it down to whether it's a problem with the email, or if it's on your computer and the connection to your computer.

If the rest of the Internet is working normally on your computer, then it's not a problem with your router or cable, so you don't want to mess with them. I keep routers and modems up high and locked up so staff members don't mess with them - that helps.

I think she's just writing fast, Guest. Probably in some frustration.

Mary: When I used Outlook a few years ago (on a network system, Mac desktop, college's own "exchange" domain in Ireland), it was through the web browser - and we always had to enter our OLD password first in order to get in and change it. But if you're filling in all the previous steps correctly but not even getting a prompt box, I'm stumped. Doesn't sound like a hardware issue, though. Can your IT guy/gal try changing it from their terminal, and just give you a temporary new password for the moment? I assume your old password is still letting you in? I dunno... weird.

Thanks. It was the password and has now been fixed.

"Then it says enter your new password in the password box. I do not see a password box."

It could be this:

Not so long ago, some 22-year-old IT person was bored and decided to start a new fad. Invisible boxes. I've come across boxes I can't see at all or boxes whose outlines are a barely-visible pale gray. I hope the fad dies out soon.

Whether that was the problem or not, I'm glad you can get into Outlook again. E-mail can be very important.
