Subject: She saw him smile .... or ....
From: Sarah-HS

Hi all. The "Saddest Song" thread down there got me thinking about a song I once heard - and wish I could find its lyrics. It's either called "She saw him smile" ... or "Her saw her smile". Does this ring a bell with anyone?

"She saw him smile" by Harvey Andrews (all I got from a web search). Perhaps it helps someone else to remember.

SHE SAW HIM SMILE
(Harvey Andrews)
As recorded by Harvey Andrews on "25 Years on the Road," 1989.

1. She saw him smile
He knows her face from somewhere in the past
Then the smile fades for memories never last
She saw him smile

2. She says hello
Buttons up his shirt and combs his hair
Although the man she's loved's no longer there
She says hello

BRIDGE: Remembering when
They danced together in the darkened room
The blushing bride, the nervous happy groom
Remembering then
Remembering when

3. She holds his hand
Together they let time pass unrehearsed
For time has been and gone and done its worst
She holds his hand

4. She hums their song
Hm-hm-hm-hm...
La-la-la-la...
He hums along

REPEAT BRIDGE

5. And then she leaves
He smiles one more time and waves goodbye
The picture of her fading from his eye
And then she leaves

REPEAT VERSE 1.

(How's that, Joe? - Susanne)

Sorry, forgot this ...

[1987:] A portrait of the last months of my parents' long and happy marriage. (Notes Harvey Andrews, '25 Years On the Road')

I think somewhere else Harvey mentions his father developed either Alzheimer's or dementia. - Susanne
