From history lessons in grade school, the white-brother legend turned up in my education. This concerns the European conquest of the Americas, and one response to same. There were First Nation people who spoke of an oral tradition, that their ancestors had once had brother-ancestors, so to speak, and that in ancient times the brothers were separated; part of the tradition was a prophecy that one day the white brother would return, and reunite with the red brother. Does anybody else remember this myth?
