Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: Steve Gardham Date: 12 Oct 16 - 02:51 PM Thanks, Ray. The last 4 or 5 of these concerts have been well attended so this one should be. |

Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: Steve Gardham Date: 14 Oct 16 - 06:05 PM Brilliant! We were too busy doing gigs and going to meetings to get the usual plug on local radio. |
Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: GeoffLawes Date: 15 Oct 16 - 02:07 PM Another great concert! We missed the beginning because our bus was late, but we saw most of it and it was a very good afternoon. It is a pity if there are no concerts in that great room during 2017 - some mistake surely! |
Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: Steve Gardham Date: 15 Oct 16 - 02:31 PM Unfortunately the room seems to be fully booked up for prestigious exhibitions, but I'll keep pestering them. Thanks, Geoff. I think Sam would enjoy a peek at your original copy of Sam Cowell's 'Ah, My Love's Dead' sheet music. Who needs radio plugs? All seats taken and plenty standing around the sides. Thanks to all who performed and listened. |
Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: GeoffLawes Date: 16 Oct 16 - 04:44 AM When I said "some mistake surely!" there was no criticism intended for anyone on the folk end of the 2017 arrangement. It's just that it occurred to me, as I sat in Hull's Town Dock Museum, listening to sea songs and shanties, that the series of enjoyable concerts which you have staged there reflected the vernacular culture of our city very well. It will be a sad omission for Hull's Year of Culture if space and time cannot be found for at least one Town Dock concert during 2017. "some mistake surely!" |
Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Folk Concert 15th October From: Steve Gardham Date: 16 Oct 16 - 02:48 PM Ah, it's only folk music, Geoff. Nothing to do with Hull's culture! The Folk and Maritime Festival will go ahead regardless of 'City of Culture'. Still 'twould be nice if they at least acknowledged us seeing as they're using our pictures in their brochures. |
