Subject: RE: Aine's Mudcat Songbook revisited From: bradfordian Date: 13 Oct 16 - 06:41 AM I have transferred a further 100 or so songs into the Aines Mudcat Songbook Permathread to complete part 1 of the collection. The contents links should now be completed. That's it for this stage. If someone could double check the links and report any errors, it would be appreciated. Please note that the song challenge winners (a few hundred!) are in a different section of Aines website and still to be transferred-that'll be the next task. bradfordian |
Subject: RE: Aine's Mudcat Songbook revisited From: bradfordian Date: 08 Oct 16 - 10:25 AM I am in the process of transfering more songs from the geocities website into the Mudcat Songbook Permathread and consequently linking them to the contents. The main section & songs of inspiration/celebration has now been completed. I am attacking the parodies next. Please do not post into Aine's Mudcat Songbook PermaThread (It is essntially the database for 'catters songs)but leave any related comments here. bradfordian |
Subject: RE: Aine's Mudcat Songbook revisited From: Lonesome EJ Date: 29 Sep 16 - 12:12 AM My, my. Amos just did one called The Gentleman's Club that he and I wrote together about 2003 at the Getaway. I have written tunes for and recorded several, among them my songs The Provo's Song, Virginia Dare, and Blue China Jug. I have also written a tune for, and recorded, Amos' song 1066, which I renamed Song of the Saxons. Anyone desiring links to any, let me know. |
Subject: RE: Aine's Mudcat Songbook From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Sep 16 - 07:58 AM That's a project I keep meaning to get back to, Bradfordian. Mousethief and I had been copying the songs from an archive of geocities.com into the Mudcat PermaThread. I'd be glad to have a volunteer to take over that project. Joe |
Subject: RE: Aine's Mudcat Songbook From: JenBurdoo Date: 28 Sep 16 - 02:14 AM I don't see my song from the ancient "How to write a folksong" thread, which I've recorded as "The Whiskey, the Girl and the Rebel." I used other tropes from the thread more recently to write one called "The Tavernkeeper's Daughter." Alan of Australia had one in the same thread. |
Subject: Aine's Mudcat Songbook From: bradfordian Date: 27 Sep 16 - 02:06 PM I had a dip into Aine's Mudcat Songbook the other day. I don't know if any of you have visited it recently, seems to be getting a bit neglected. Some gems in there might be worthwhile reviving. I picked out 4 songs which tickled my fancy. I think there are still several songs to which there is no tune suggested, so there's a little task for anyone of you retired folkies with a bit of time on their hands. (Just an idea!) Fancy a peek?
