Subject: Lyr Req: Ballad of Gipsy Moth IV - Pennine Folk From: GUEST,CJB Date: 08 Oct 16 - 05:22 AM The Pennine Folk appeared on numerous Beeb folk programmes such as Country Meets Folk, Folk on Friday, etc. https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/search/0/20?q=pennine+folk#search On one of these they sang the Ballad of Gypsey Moth IV about Sir Francis Chichester's circumnavigation of the world. The chorus went:
In the months of rain and snow, How many times can a man defy, The raging seas and the rolling sky? As a tall ship sailor who has survived many storms - mainly in or around the North Sea (Christian Radich), Bay of Biscay (Christian Radich), St. Kilda (Sir Winston Churchill), and the English Channel (HM Bark Endeavour)!! - I can well imagine this scenario. |
