Greg Lake, founder of King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, has died from cancer at the age of 69.

Greg died yesterday December.

Greg Lake is considered one of the founding fathers of progressive rock, creating 1960s rock band King Crimson.

He subsequently teamed up with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer to form the progressive rock supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

Rest in peace

And 2016 claims another music legend... well, at least someone whose name I've known forever.

Actually, as Christmas songs go, IMO it's one of the better ones!

Works well om Anglo as well!

I presume that Greg Lake was responsible for the line "I need no crutch I am not lame" when referring to religion in another ELP song.

OK then, tell who "they" are in that song. It's just one big musical Aunt Sally!

When keith Emerson died there was a challenge for the folk club to bring something applicable . I think it was only me , but it meant I had something to play in Greg lakes memory at a open mic last night . So out came just take a pebble , again , an ELP song with some interesting chord sequence .

It's a good job 2016 is nearly over, the death toll is beyond a Joke!

RIP Greg Lake - your Christmas song proved once more that few people actually listen to the lyrics (although it was Pete Sinfield who wrote them)

Alan

PS can I have the Zemaitis 12-string, please?

... and Palmer might be quite eager to see the start of 2017...

.. weird or what.. how many bands die in alphabetical order... there's one for Miss Marple...?????

I was 14.. Brain Salad Surgery was an essential LP in my dad's efforts to guide me to become a teenage Hi Fi audiophile...

[he'd already hooked me on the chest pounding bass notes of Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives of Henry VIII].. 😎

hmmm.. a deluxe 2 CD remastered was just released in the Autumn..
and I've not heard it properly for years...
