Which is presumably fluke. Tunes with that sort of simple arch-form/pentachordal structure can pop up anywhere.

To me the tune is more similar to "Graysteil", the lute tune from the 17th century which may just possibly be the tune for the mediaeval Scottish epic of that name (I suspect it isn't). Though the Icelandic song is MUCH faster.

Sorry , I did not get the Blue clicking right ,

but I forgot , the question about the Viking link ...well Krummi is made in early 1800 hundred by this man   , Jón Thoroddsen (5. október 1818 eða 1819 – 8. mars 1868

this is a Icelandic folk song ...but the Lord version linked to the Viking ´s age of music I can´t say , the Viking´s who came here from Norway had with them Istrument´s drums and flute´s but I am not sure about the Icelandic LANGASPIL Istrument when that came forward .

the Song KRUMMI SVAF Í KLETTAGJÁ is great in a version , mixed with drums and ( Fimmundarsinging ) ...with out string instrument s ..

Dear Joe , I did listen to the Wild Berry in version of Lord Randall , and I can sing Krummi ...along with it but only with the drums ,
also Krummi svaf í klettagjá ...is only in Em and Am ...but we did a version of it only in Em .Mostly this song is in ( Fimmundarsinging ) .Please listen to this ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq4seuBFxIM

Here's the thread on the Wild Berry. I think of "Wild Berry" as a version of "Lord Randall," and I don't see a connection with the Icelandic song. Can somebody enlighten me?

I got an email request that might be interesting to explore:

Hi, I don't know if you are interested but I was mooching through random youtube music and I came across: Valravn – Krummi. I know it's not the same but the general flow and tone really reminds me of Ray Driscolls' The Wild, Wild Berry. Is it possible that the odd version he found in Shropshire was actually a tune picked up from the Vikings/Norse area of things? I'm no expert but I thought I'd put my hand up.
