Still a good'n, YorkshireYankee. I hereby suggest a follow-up on the lines of the Diddums-in-Chief declaring that the international dateline shall henceforth go down the middle of the Atlantic, so that he can start any particular day of the week before those pesky Europeans get their mitts on it.

Damn damn damn: now I've got "When it's Tuesday in Italy, it's Wednesday over here" running through my head, without even a tune. *Argh*, in spades.

Cool Beans, love your parody!

This one is past its prime already, and probably not suitable for marches, but I'll share it here anyway...

MAPMAKER
To the Tune of "Matchmaker"
by Sheldon Harnick & Jerry Bock
new words by Vikki Appleton
© 10 Feb 2025

Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
make me a map
Do as I say, fill it with crap
Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
be a good schnook
And make me a rubbish map

Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
I’ll bring the lies
You bring the map
for us to revise
Fill it with swill
for I’m longing to be
The Caesar of all I see

For Bannon, make it outrageous
For Elon, add a swastika too
Don’t think of being courageous
Just follow the orders I give to you

Mapmaker, Mapmaker, make me a map
Do as I say, fill it with crap
Day after day in DC I’m a drone
So make me a map all my own...

Donald, oh Donald, have I got a map for you
The countries and towns
Are all named after you
So it’s a nice plan, a good map, true?
True
It ought to make you happy
Your ego satisfy
Although it prob’ly won’t
Don’t ask me why

Did you think we’d make some prints?
Well, I do the best I can
With no wisdom, no morals,
       no sense of discretion
It’s mad you’ve got a plan!

Mapmaker, Mapmaker make it so good
I’ll tell you how, I know we could
I am a genius but misunderstood
So… crown me a king
Groom me for doom
Find me a mind
Map me some crap
And make me a hapless map!

(Many thanks to Joe Offer for the idea for this parody.)

Subject: RE: The Trump Uncivil War
From: Donuel
Date: 03 Jun 25 - 05:01 PM

War from my own country
Can you smell the fear?
Mercy
It doesn't exist
Blood
The measure of victory
Danger
You will be the next
hit by a bullet
Blinded by pain for a while

Suddenly, I am somewhere else
Trapped in fear, lost in the dark
Oh god, I need help
They have taken me
Blindfolded, tied hands
What am I doing here?
Taken
Turn into the enemy
Or be executed

Run from your President
There ain’t nowhere to go
Find a way
You’re not ready to die
Betray them
Choose freedom or loyalty
Try to escape
Or torture won't end

I can't stand this anymore
If I could, I'd shoot myself
I'm a fainting prisoner
Treason is the sentence
Ok, that's enough
I'll tell everything
Never wanted to do this
Forgive me, I have no choice

Taken
Turn into the enemy
Or be executed
Think twice
If you don't deserve to die
Join us Betrayer
You'll stay in the prison cell
You're not going anywhere
And your soul will gently burn
In hell

Fuck you all
You forced me to betray my motherland
I'll try to return to fight or recant my guilt
Now it's time to go back home
I've managed to escape the one man
nightmare about to begin
Begin the dream of the
Trump uncivil war

Subject: RE: It don't matter what ever is your side
From: Donuel
Date: 29 May 25 - 02:15 PM

Well, it's all wrong when crooks are as free as the breeze
Well, it's all wrong when rapists do as they please
Well, it's all right doing the best you can
Well, it's all right as long as you lend a hand
You can sit around and wait for the end of term (at the end of the line)
Waiting for someone to tell you the truth (at the end of the line, of the line)
Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring (at the end of the line)
Maybe a free jet plane
Well, it's all right even if they say you're wrong
Well, it's all right, sometimes you gotta be strong
Well, it's all wrong when its time to go but you stay
Well, it's all wrong, to break every rule everyday
Maybe somewhere down the road aways (at the end of the line)
You'll listen to reason one of these days (at the end of the line, of the line)
Maybe down the road you will hear the court and obey (at the end of the line)
Purple haze
Well, it's all wrong when push always comes to shove
Well, it's all wrong if you never know how to love
Well, it's all right, everything'll work out fine
Well, it's all right, we're going to the end of the line
Don't have to be ashamed of the country that thrives (at the end of the line)
I'm just glad to be here, happy to be alive (at the end of the line, of the line)
It don't matter what ever is your side (at the end of the line)
I'm satisfied
Well, it's all right even if you're old and gray
Well, it's all right, you still got something to say
Well, it's all wrong, if you can't live and let live
Well, it's all wrong, if you don't know how to forgive
Well, it's all right (all right), riding around on the breeze
Well, it's all right (all right), if you live the life you please
Well, it's all right, even if the sun don't shine
Well, it's all right (all right), we're going to the end of the line

This is probably the best song we've come up with for rallys, composed by Eli Dale of our sea music group Roll & Go:

Eli Dale March 2025 elidaleportland@gmail.com
Feel free to use and distribute.
Key: Cm (5/Gm)
Do Not Comply

Chorus
Am------G---Am----------------------G-----C-----Am
Do not com-ply! You'll only make them strong-er;
G
Do not comply! You'll only feed the hunger
C--G---Am----------------G--Am
Of the beast that would de-vour;
G----------------------C------------------G------C--G---Am
Now is the hour, to stand before the beast and say, "No!"

V.1
Am---------------------G
No, to the hatred of those who won’t conform
-----C
To some stupid gender norm;
---------    G-----------------------------------Am
We will raise a fearsome storm and say, "No!"

V.2
No, to the murder of those who need our care,
Left with only thoughts and prayers;
We will come from everywhere and say, "No!"

Chorus

V.3
No, to the erasure of those who are not white;
Who’ve been swept into the night;
We'll raise them to new heights and say, "No!"

V.4
No, to the destruction of this nation that provides
A safe place to live our lives;
There'll be no compromise when we say, "No!"

Chorus

V.5
No, to the Project where rich white men take it all;
Leave the rest of us to crawl;
We will tear down your walls and say, "No!"

We have to record Eli leading this song.

Charlie Ipcar

From: Donuel
Date: 21 May 25 - 09:08 AM

… No, I can't forget this evening
Or my business I'm bereaving
But I guess that's just the way the story goes
I always smile but in my eyes my sorrow shows
Yes, it shows
… No, I can't forget tomorrow
When I think of all my sorrows
When I had an income then I let it go
And now it's only fair that I should let you know
What you should know
… I can't live, if living is with Trump tariffs
I can't live, I can't give any more
Can't live, if living is with Trump tariffs
… Can't live, if living is with Trump tariffs
I can't live, I can't give anymore
I can't live, if living is without you
I can't live, I can't give anymore

To the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"

Taylor Swift’s no longer hot
She is ugly, short and squat
She can’t ride on Air Force One
She can’t shoot Don Junior’s gun
“Humph,” the Hippopotus sniffed
“No one’s hot for Taylor Swift.”

Re the song I posted on 28th January 2017, it needs updating to reflect the somewhat unforeseen second term of office.
I sang it again just last week, in a slightly revised version, as we had a dear American friend over here. She and her husband were fairly recent acquaintances when 8 years ago, I quietly asked them if they would mind if I sang a song about their President. “So long as it’s nothing complimentary “ was the reply! They both loved it.
I the meantime, the husband has sadly left this world, and we were having a wee session in remembrance of him, hence singing the song again.
By the way, I’m Mrs Tattie Bogle, not Mr.

Turning to the performers from a strong era of protest songs, Janis Ian has posted on Facebook about writing a song that she had an opportunity to sing with Joan Baez. Here is the start of the information:
A SONG FOR CHANGE
A few years ago I sat down with Jess Leary, one of my favorite co-writers, and we decided to write an anthem. It felt like the world was getting stranger every day. People were scared, feeling hopeless.
Writing "One In a Million" made us feel hopeful. It reminded us that no matter how hard things got, we were not alone.
We are one, we are one in a million
We are one in a million strong
In my darkest night, I hold on to that light
We are one in a million strong
A while later, I was asked to perform at a San Francisco event called "Fight the Right." When I found out Joan Baez would also be appearing, I asked if she'd sing it with me. Fortunately, Joan's a quick study, because we only had time for one short run through.
We sang it twice that night, with fellow musician Anthony Peterson helping out and the audience joining in as soon as they'd learned the chorus.
A short while ago Joan's long time personal assistant, Nancy Lutzow, let me know that she'd just uncovered a tape of us singing "One In a Million" at the San Francisco show. . .

One In A Million with a video added and mastering, on YouTube.

well, when a songwriter experiences a failed relationship is it often said "Well, at least I got a good song out of it." Similarly, when a country experiences a failed leadership.... this is bound to prompt many songs in response! Looking forward to see what else is spawned now...

From: The Sandman

To Florida a traveling circus came, they brought a
failed businessman and Trump was his name
One dark night he slipped his iron chain
And off he ran to Hindustan
And was never seen again
Trump the president packed his trunk
And said goodbye to the circus
Off he went with a trumpety trump
Trump trump trump
Now Trump the president packed his trunk
And trundled off to the jungle
Off he went with a trumpety trump
Trump trump trump
The head of the herd was calling far far away
They met one night in the silver light
On the road to MANDALAY
Night by night he danced to the circus troupe
When Trump was leading the big parade
he looked so thick and rude
No more tricks for Trump to play
They taught him how to take a bow
And he died a death on stage
Oh

TRUMPSONG

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to bite my tongue, I've got too much to say.

Your president's a criminal, as if you weren't aware,
My president will sell us out to please the Russian bear,
Our president is treasonous, the Senate doesn't care,
There's plenty in the sloppin' trough for they can get their share.

America is for the rich, as if you couldn't tell,
Our government works for the rich, the rest can go to Hell,
Good healthcare is for the rich and I ain't feelin' well,
There's corruption in the capital, a stench that you can smell.

If your mama was a Mexican then Trump won't have you here,
If your father practiced Islam then Trump won't have you here,
If you're L or G or B or T then Trump won't have you near,
It's homogenized conformity that keeps you in the clear.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to shut my mouth, I've got too much to say.

Compassion truth and fair play have come under attack,
I think that it's about time we took our country back,
So never vote for anyone who's got a superpac,
And if the tax cut's only for the rich, give them bums the sack.

If a program helps the suffering, it's going to get the sack,
There is viciousness in politics that goes right to the top,
If they don't like a question, they give the questioner a pop,
But you and I know what do, to make this madness stop.

If your machine is out of whack, you give it one big thump,
If you're going to drain the DC swamp, you'll need a mighty pump,
If you want to make this county great again, first get rid of Trump,
And take those others of his ilk and send them to the dump.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
You ain't about to hold me back, I've got too much to say.

Do you suppose the one per cent react with glee and mirth,
While they're making obscene fortunes from the rape of mother earth,
They,ve been greedy piglets from the moment of their birth,
Nothing matters to them but their personal net worth.

And they're making filthy lucre off the backs of the working poor,
They think that's what us commoners were put on this Earth for,
No matter how much wealth accrued, they think that they need more,
Why if there's a dollar to be made, they'll even stat a war.

Koch brothers and Walton's and Haliburton too,
They think they own the government, and I suppose they do,
But we need to take it back from them and tell them they are through,
Cause Woody taught me that this land was made for me and you.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to bite my tongue, or shut my mouth or be held back,
I've got to... much to... say.

GOD AND THE ORANGE CLOWN
(Ian Robb)

When your forests turn to ash,
When your fields all turn to dust,
When your islands are awash,
How will you choose; who will you trust?
When the mudslides hurtle down,
Who will you turn to for recourse?
When your greens all fade to brown,
Who will you blame; who will you curse?

And still you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone.
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

When tornados wreck your town,
When the tempest scours your coast,
Will you still heed the Orange Clown,
Will you still cheer his every boast?
When it’s time to make your choice,
Whose truth, whose lies will you believe?
Will you ignore the braying voice?
Will you refuse to be deceived?

Or will you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone?
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

When at last the seas run dry
And when rocks melt in the sun
And when you can no more deny,
Then you’ll see what you have done.

Yet still you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone,
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

Randy Rainbow has put out some spectacularly good parodies of popular songs from musicals. Trump is his target.

Subject: Lyr Add: THE DAY DEMOCRACY DIED
From: Joe Offer
Date: 15 Feb 20 - 04:34 PM

"The Day Democracy Died" Sung by The Founding Fathers:
Very clever photo editing.

An excerpt:

A long long time ago
A Tuesday in November
When that sinking feeling laid us low
And we knew if he had his way
That we’d all live to curse the day
When decency received a fatal blow

His bankruptcies got no attention
Pussy-grabbing — barely mentioned
Promising a great wall
He swore to make tax rates fall

I still remember how I tried
To have sympathy for his third bride
But something rumbled deep inside
The day democracy died
but...

No, don’t let democracy die
He’s a famous ignoramus — can’t tell truth from a lie
And if he wins we’ll kiss our country goodbye
Singin’ vote for anyone but this guy
Vote for anyone but this guy

And I have to say that I still have sympathy for the third bride - Free Melania!

Subject: Lyr Add: DANCING REVOLUTION
From: GUEST,crowlibrarian
Date: 11 Feb 20 - 07:26 PM

May as well add one of those I've penned -
Dancing Revolution
Dancing revolution (1-30-2020) key of G
      G                                                   C                                 G
It’s troubled times we live in, there’s troubled times we’ve known
G                                              A7                        D
Troubled times in Washington, troubled times at home
                  G                                                    C                               G
This might help us not to lose hope, when we see more wrong than right
                      C                         G                              D                           G
Cause there’s plenty of troubles all around, (there’s) plenty of ways to fight

chorus:
C                                  G
We can dance, create a dancing revolution
             D                              G               G7
We can sing, singing out for joy and for change
             C                                                       G
There’s much that I am sad/mad about, sometimes I want to drink and pout
       D                                             D7                         G
But I’ll be damned if those assholes (bullies) have their way

There’s danger in the White House, a bully and a liar
He’ll grab you, hurt you, smear your name, he’ll set this world on fire
It’s up to us to stand strong, resist all that we can
Help those in need, take to the streets, and here’s some more to plan

We can dance….

This planet’s needs to cool down and there’s babies thrown in jail
Drones and bombs kill families, there’s poisons in our wells
Millions work in poverty, the well-to-do don’t care
There’s lots to do, but party too, so it’s not just a nightmare

When you can dance…

Subject: Lyr Add: THE BALLAD OF ONE-TERM DONALD
From: GUEST,the og
Date: 10 Feb 20 - 11:13 AM

The Ballad of One-Term Donald or…Let’s Go No Trump
Bill Ogden (2020)        Tune = “Son of a Gambolier” (perhaps best recognized as “Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech” or “Come On and Join the Air Force”)

Donald Trump took to the stump and stole the U.S.A.
He’d rave and vent as President ’til kindness went away.
In time his Cab’net hosted only shill and n’er-do-well,
Trump behaved as Putin craved; the country went to hell.

Donald’s wall, as I recall, became his shining star,
Ol’ Mike Pence sat on his fence assenting from afar.
Take back your huddled masses, our doors are tightly shut,
No peace in sight unless you’re white; that’s the scuttlebutt.

Milania, her ma and pa, all called Slovenia home,
As immigrants they got their chance beneath the golden dome.
And now that they are settled, forget about the rest,
Just buy those frocks with cash from stocks and struggle to be best.

Donald ran Republican and took the party down,
McConnell’d back up Donald as he shut the Senate down.
Their only legislation, a tax break for the few,
Don and Mitch, hey, life’s a bitch; too bad for me and you.

Trump tried and tried, some say he lied, to get dirt on his foes,
Though quite in vain Ukrainian pressure points were chose.
Alas, the more he meddled, the worse it would become,
There you go, it’s quid pro quo, time to depose the bum.

Tragically magical, the process came unwound,
By house impeached, by Senate breached, consensus was not found.
A trial without witnesses seems to me uncouth,
Party line was, by design, more powerful than truth.

Now you and I can mount a try to make our country whole,
All it takes for all our sakes is eyes upon the goal.
Don’t leave the job to others, keep liberty afloat,
Avoid those ruts get off your butts let’s all get out and vote.

It's the end of the world as we know it (REM) - hard to sing but still.

I am reminded of a weird Star Trek thing about it's life, Jim, but not as we know it.

Here is a song for the creep in the White House,
May his balls rot and fall off in the breeze,
May he feel nauseous and may his guts fester,
May he drop dead while he's seventy-three.

Subject: Lyr Add: THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN' BACK
From: Mossback
Date: 21 Jun 19 - 11:12 AM

"I wrote these lyrics within half an hour of seeing Donald Trump's inaugural speech last Friday evening and played it in Salisbury that night. With apologies to Bob Dylan."

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone
For the climate is obviously changing
But the man in the White House says no ones to blame
For the times they are a changin back

Come Mexicans, Muslims, LGBT and Jews
Keep your eyes wide for what’s on the news
For President Trump is expressing his views
And I feel that the mob he’s inciting
Will soon break your windown
And burn down your schools
For the times they are a changin back

Come mothers and daughters throughout the land
A bunch of old men have come up with a plan
Never mind your ambitions they have better ideas
How you should be behaving
So get back in the kitchen and button your lip
For the times they are a-changing back

In the land of the free and the home of the brave
Martin Luther King is spinning in his grave
To see a bigoted bully taking the stage
And he calls upon us to be faithful
To the ideas he died for in another age
For the times they are a-changing back

The line it is drawn and the curse it is cast
The slow one now will later be fast
As the prison now will later be past
Let’s hold on to that idea for a moment
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they need a changin.
