I like the 'handle' but if it's a tribute to "Under Milk Wood" it should be "Llareggub", which, as you surely know, means next to nothing backwards.

I can't say I've seen the alternative spelling before. And a quick Google suggests that it's a bowdlerisation of the original.
It's difficult mixing pronunciation as 'byggerall' would give an English 'u' sound to the 'y' when pronounced in Welsh. But for consistency you'd then need to pronounce the 'll' at the end, so it wouldn't sound like 'bugger all'.
From what I've read, Dylan Thomas intended the name as a 'sight gag' and little else.

Following up way after the fact...the story is that when Dylan Thomas was writing Under Milk Wood he wanted to place it on 'Llareggub Hill', but the BBC censor caught it and insisted on a change; hence 'Llareggyb', which is the published version.

I like it when people on here call me 'Sen' as it's much less complicated. My husband is from the Senoufo tribe, and I added the 'u' so that the name ends in 'fou' ('mad' in French)
I couldn't be 'Eliza' as there was already someone of that name.

And by Mad, Sen does not mean Angry, for those of you on my side of the pond.

But I was nicknamed Mrrzy practically at birth. I have used that name socially all my life, so, close on 60 years now. Hardly ludicrous. Which I used to think was "luducrious" back when I also thought Awry was pronounced AWE-ree.

Reread some James Thurber recently and Awry came up as AWE-ree instead of a-WRY, which cracked me up, as I've read that word correctly for decades by now. Context is everything.

Welsh generally puts the emphasis on the next-to-last syllable, so it should be pronounced Buh GAIR achhhhhh. Y as a vowel is sometimes or perhaps always pronounced "uh".

Rather than word it myself I thought I'd just lift the description from Wiki:
"The rules governing the letter Y are some of the most confusing in Welsh. Normally it's pronounced like the u in cut, but in the last syllable of a word it most commonly represents the sound of the ee in beet. Note; This includes words with only one syllable, such as llyn (hlin)."

This may be further complicated by the need to look at the origins of complex words. So, in Pontypridd they have Ynysangharad Park. As that is a compound name the first part is 'ynys' meaning 'island' and that is pronounced 'unnis' even though the second 'y' is not in the last syllable of the name itself, Ynysangharad retains that pronunciation.
'Pontypridd' itself causes problems. Most say 'Pontuhpreeth' but shorten it to 'Ponty' (Pontee).

Confusing? or what?

I joined Mudcat at a time when everyone was encouraged to use pseudonyms: I'm not bothered if people know or find out who I really am, as many do or have done. I'm certainly not hiding behind it.

Well, technically, my name ought to be spelt Rædwulf, which I occasionally do as a signature, but most people don't have a clue about ALT codes for special characters (ALT+0230, if you're interested), ae is much easier, and it's not like I care...

Oh, and technically it ought to be pronounced "Radwulf" - æ is the A/S letter æsc i.e. ash (sc in A/S is pronounced 'sh' so scip would be 'ship'. Or 'sheep'. Depending on whether it's a long or short 'i'. Confused yet? ;-) ), with the short 'a'. But 'ræd' became the word rede i.e. counsel, and most folk pronounce it, even if only from written, as "Raidwulf". Again, I don't care. The curious thing is the couple of Yorkies who have known me by this name are actually incapable of saying "Raidwulf"; it's always "Radwulf". The curiosities of dialect, eh!

The main issue with mine is whether or not cooperator should or shouldn't be hyphenated. In the co-op/coop movement the use of the hyphen continues to be a major area of debate.
