From: The Maverick

Newbie to trying to work out chords as the internet makes it so easy - USUALLY - these days but not with these exquisite songs of Allan Taylor.

Allan if you check in here thanks for singing Standing at the Door for me and my wife at the Black Swann York earlier this month.

What I have worked out so far for this is

Dm A# C A# Dm C A7

for the verse

and

F C F A# Dm C F Dm C

I am guessing drop D tuning DADGBE

Lyrics as follows:

Out of Time – Allan Taylor

When it's your time to go away
I hope I have the strength to say
I hope it turns out fine for you

Maybe I'll smile, I'll kiss your cheek
I'll look strong when I'm feeling weak
Isn't that what I'm supposed to do

You're still here but I know you've gone
Your eyes are looking towards the sun
Following its journey across the sea

Your land is pink flamingo warm
Your land is summer coming home
I know that's where you need to be

It kind of caught me out of time
I was running so fast, I was feeling fine
I had it all, I didn't want no more
But you were wanting and I never saw

I wanted you to hurt like me
What a fool, I couldn't see
You'd been hurting longer than I knew

Maybe you played your part too well
You held it back and you couldn't tell
You had to go before I knew it too

It kind of caught me out of time
I was running so fast, I was feeling fine
I had it all, I didn't want no more
But you were wanting and I never saw

When it's your time to go away
I hope I have the strength to say
I hope it works out fine for you

I remain mystified by the frequent requests for "the" chords for such and such a song.

If you're trying to reproduce exactly the way someone else (the original songwriter or anyone else) has performed it --- why?

If you're content to perform it in your own way, why not just use whatever chords seem to fit the melody according to your personal taste? The three chord trick works well enough for most of us most of the time.
