Steve Shaw posting on the 1st March - Labour Discussion Thread:

"If you think we deserve it, keep it to yourself and demolish us via measured, careful argument."

Having just read this:

Steve Shaw - 02 Mar 17 - 07:27 PM

I'd also suggest that akenaton stops twatting childishly around with fake Scottish that no-one actually speaks. I have a very strong feeling that he actually comes from Kent and, in real life, speaks a degraded form of estuary English. The twat. Och the effin' noo.

That's a mighty fine example of "measured, careful argument" Shaw.

""Ye git that wi'e livin' alane so ye dae ...aye""
Just a reminder that you are the only one openly supporting Trump on this forum, the only one that ever suggested that Anders Breivik had something worth listening to, the only one who regularly targets homosexuals long after the world recognised that homosexuality was as natural as breathing for some people and passed laws confirming that fact, the only one to support forcing refugees to wear identification tags long after even the sewerest of sewer press had comared it to the Jews being forced to wear yellow stars, the only one (certainly on this forum) who suggests that the present crisis in the health service is down to misuse by patients, the only one believes Anne Coulter is a rational, sane and responsible media figure.....
Far from me "livin' alane, I suggest that you check that your own flat-mates aren't imaginary friends.
Rather than targeting me with unsubstantiated abuse, is seems that you are the recluse here.
Try arguing instead of pumping out propaganda on behalf of the feller who seems to be incapable of opening his mouth without provoking a national crisis

Nothing to see here folks, its just a bit of confusion, Jeffery Beauregard Sessions will recuse himself from campaign investigations.
He says he BELIEVES he has no idea what questions about Russia is all about 3 days after the scandal broke in the NYT.

The actions favorable to Putin after taking office are a more serious matter. An independent prosecutor will be able to look at this matter as a whole while a Congressional investigation would be focused just on the campaign. A Commission would have even more leeway but could remain closed to public scrutiny and stay classified.

What we will know will be very tightly controlled. Could a US President be charged with treason for money? Not bloody likely.

Jim Comey has chosen a curious time to be tight lipped now.

The 'what if' questions abound in a sea of lies. What if it was Comey who should recuse himself as well?

"Well Mrs May seems to get on rather well with President Donal-John and you think HE is a Fascis"
Lets see how she attempts to appease his fascism
There is no doubt of what Thatcher was - she decare that the mass murder theat was going on in Chile was "democracy", she moved heaven and earth to prevent Pinochet from coming to trail for his crimes and she accused those who wished to bring him to trail as "running a police state"
She even organised a rally attended by her extremely embarrassed cabinet, where she and others declared their support for this dictator, complete wit crossed British and Chilean flags
What else would you describe it.
Trump enlisted the aid of a foreign power to win n election, he won that election by setting one group of Americans against the other, using "security" as an excuse, he deliberately targetted five Muslim nations, carefully omitting the one which financed and provided terrorists for 9/11.
He is running roughshod over the American constitution and denigrating his own security services and justice system - he is even attempting to control information on his actions.
In the process, those neared=st to him are dropping like flies.
Fascism, by anybody's book, albeit in its early days
You refuse to comment on any of this other than to give it your blanket support - making you.....
No prizes for guessing.
As far as I am concerned, your attitude to homosexuality, your demands that mass murderer Breivik, your insistence that refugees should be forced to ear identification tags long after even the right wing gutter press had condemned it has long identified what you are.
Your description of a new day dawning and tor presenting America's shrillest and most vitriolic media mouthpiece, Ann Coulter, the darling of the Klan, as a serious journalist with something to say (like Breivik)
Your persistent use of her hatred of "liberals" makes you and her soulmates.
I confess, when I was young I over-used the term 'fascism'
Since I took the trouble to learn the definition I tend to say it when I see it - I saw it in Thatcher - I certainly say it in her friend Pinochet - I see it in Trump, and I see it in you.
I don't think I am being unfair to any of you
If I have "lost the plot" I haven't lost my humanity, nor have I lost my respect for and understanding of Socialism.
If Britain had adopted the attitude the same attitude to towards refugees in the thirties taht yoiu abd yours are doing towards thiose same refugees now, there would have been a lot less Jews than there are today
I remind myself of that fact everytime you go on one of your "liberal" rants
Again - I expect no coherent response to any of this - that's not what you do.
It doesn't matter -it's not for your benefit
Jim Carroll

"even achieve the political stature of Mrs Thatcher."
Mrs Thtcher was a self-exposed fascist who described Pinochet who tortured and massacred his opponents as "a hero of Democracy"
This will not be acknowledged by you of course, but it confirms where you stand politically
Can't beat the horse's mouth for such confirmation

Yes, thank you Snail there are many similarities between Mrs May and Mrs Thatcher, most importantly both have been given the job of changing the direction of capitalism.
Mrs Thatcher had millions heading to redundancy as the uncompetitive manufacturing and heavy industry faltered .....these industries were not being run efficiently....everyone after a slice of the cake, unions out on strike every week, but we all know the capitalist system does not operate like that, try to regulate it or cut profits, the money moves on.

Mrs May has the job of overseeing a return to an economy based on real trade, where we are dealing with real jobs, real work for our youth.....huge retraining programmes giving back some pride and sense of worth to generations institutionalised by the benefit system or struggling on short term contracts.

Capitalism is nothing if not adaptable, I also think Mrs May is an extremely able politician who may even achieve the political stature of Mrs Thatcher.

When dictators make the press an enemy along with the courts and intelligence parts of their Army they need only a reason to declare Martial law and assume total unreviewable power.

We better hurry before a huge Trump administration 9-11 event and martial law is announced.

Martial law is like a check mate on the country.

Hey you Brits, you too were blind to Russian intrigue in your own country.

I am willing to elucidate the who's who in my prior post if necessary.

Right before Trump took office, Obama declassified much of the Russian association with Trump with disseminating the information far and wide among senators and agencies so it would not be easily scrubbed or lost.
Without tipping his hand Franken baited and trapped Sessions.

This is like when the Star report had the salacious cigar story and passed in to Republicans and Trent Lott presented Clinton with a box of cigars and a leering laugh.

Dershowitz wants a commission like a 9-11 committee but Schumer wants an independent prosecutor like Star.

The known Russian story is being slow walked partly because we do not know the big dollar quid quo pro part of the story and are waiting for the Trump folks to crack. Reading between the lines are not enough.

Hundreds of millions is known to have come to Trump from RUSSIAN OLIGARCHS but the PUTIN OIL DEAL UPON RELAXING SANCTIONS needs a bit more proof. So far election help is proven but not the hundred billion dollar deal.

So far 4 Russian intelligence agents have ben killed and a Russian ambassador to the US is now dead. The Trump administration still has people who can tell tales.

Democrats are loaded for BEAR.

Teribus is correct. Due to the power of the establishment and their friends in the news and entertainment media any real political systemic change in the US or the UK is all but impossible.
At the moment, the only alternative is to go for peak efficiency in the present system and that involves rejection of most of the inane "liberal" agenda which does so much to make our respective countries uncompetitive and results in the creation of "fake jobs" which are unable to sustain a proper standard of living for normal families.
We must stop relying on "cheap" immigrant labour and make sure that there are jobs available that pay a decent wage to our own young folks.
Wealth creators must be encouraged, and that will not happen by soaking the rich, hence the need for the lowering of tax rates for industrial development.

We just cannot afford to stick with the posturing "liberal" status quo any longer and thankfully, at long last the voting public are beginning to understand that......all over the West.

Bite it and believe it!

you couldn't have done that in the 1970's, because the tactics of our financial competitors weren't clear.

Couldn't agree more, but that does not give others leave to do the same and act disrespectfully. It also should not come as any great surprise or shock either. The US has elected somebody to the "Office" who has no political experience whatsoever - that is the accident waiting to happen when your rules state that anyone born in the USA can stand for election - utterly bloody ridiculous notion - the job is just simply too damned nuanced and complex to allow that.

Stu is correct, and Teribus has just illustrated the problem. The office should be treated with respect, but the office holder isn't capable of that himself. He's playing with the tools handed to him without understanding how they really work and has already wounded himself in the process. He appears to be playing at being president.

His haphazard approach to moving into the residence of the president, and his apparent lack of connectedness to the People's House as the powerful tool it was designed to be is disturbing. Reports that he hasn't moved in with personal furnishings, that he rattles around fairly empty rooms with only their existing furnishings and watches TV and tweets at night while his family remains in New York City; his expensive weekly trips to the opulent club in Florida where he hosts foreign visitors. Do they really want to see the gilt facade and outsized veneered-MDF venue that is Mar A Lago when they come to the US, or do they want to visit the gem that represents the seat of our power, the White House? Only an over-heated little Scotsman spouting hyperbole would fail to see the the difference.

Speech full of fairy tales, unsupportable claims,"alternative facts" (i.e. outright lies).

Just what one would extect from a crooked, billionaire third-rate TV star who inhabits and revels in a fact-free environment- as do his supporters and accolytes.

The disrespect shown was shameful and embarrassing.

Respect? For President Assclown? After that performance? You've got to be kidding.

...a template for the future of the West.

If Trump's dystopian nightmare of no health insurance, no education, rampant unregulated capitalism, no environmental protections, Wall Street run amok, bigotry, racism, xenophobia and "alternative facts" & all the rest is "a template for the future of the West" its time to move east-

When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.

It is far easier to show someone respect if they return the respect.

If someone treats the press like Trump seems to be doing he does not earn that respect, if anything he succeeds in alienating them.

Completely disagree Stu. There is a difference between "the man" and "the Office" he holds. The Office demands that respect is automatically shown to it, that Office being the most powerful on this planet - you do not ever approach the holder of that office as though he or she is "just one of the boys", or patronise it, or treat it with condescension which is exactly what Sopel did - respect does not equate with "like" it never has and once the election is won it is never a popularity contest.

"The disrespect shown was shameful and embarrassing."

Respect is earned, not automatically gifted due to social or political rank. If Trump wants the respect of the press corp, he has to grow a pair and answer the questions put to him, not matter how much it upsets the little tyke.w

Don't know about the others but I did watch BBC's Jon Sopel at one White House press conference with President Donald Trump. Had he behaved that way with any other Head of State not only would the BBC have been banned from ever attending any other Press Conference, Sopel himself would be lucky if he still had a job. The disrespect shown was shameful and embarrassing.

Excellent speech by President Donal John to Congress, now I hope all the hysterical outpourings here will stop.....and it's not just female "liberals" who can behave hysterically.

looks like DJ may be creating a template for the future of the West.

How does climate change present itself?

It presents itself in EXTREMES.

Today in LaSalle near Chicago powerful tornados devastated homes and medical facilities

That far north and in February

Drought-floods
Temp extremes
Storm Sandy

Hardly minor, pete. Assume the first amendment is not some idle whim, but that the authors' thought it so important that the freedom of the press was not infringed in any way that they altered the constitution to enforce it. As an exercise, try writing ten sentences why they might think that. Then for each reason decide whether prohibiting some media works with or against that reason.

Pete & Ake seem are now leading competitors for the "person that knows the least about The United States" contest.

Soon Pete will be telling what a great Christian Trump is.
