Subject: BS: Press Banned from WH who's next?
From: Donuel
Date: 26 Feb 17 - 09:33 AM

BBC, Guardian, Politco, CNN, Daily Mail and others are banned from WH briefings by Spicer and may not ask any questions, The President will not be questioned.

The pressuring of Senate and house investigation to tell the press there is no Russia story as well as Priebus Chief of Staff telling two FBI officials to stop their investigation is the story that the President will not answer to.

We do not know what the AG Sessions will do.

If banning decrees seem to work for Trump we will see many more.

This sounds like a Miller and Bannon policy.

The Media is massively biased and too powerful, it requires urgent regulation......It only reflects the opinions of a small section of the population.....The "liberal" elite.

I have been watching CNN for a few months now, there is no alternative voice on that channel.
I have seen no Mainstream US news outlet which has consistently supported your new President.

Again, Ake, you are such a Trump apologist you don't understand what the fuck you're talking about. Better to be silent and not appear so foolish; learn from the people who live here and experience this disaster than to snipe from Scotland where you don't have a dog in this fight.

So only media who "consistently support" the President should be persona grata?   Is that what you're saying? And who gets to decide? Do apprise us.

Ronald Reagan abolished the media fairness doctrine. Fox pretends it still exists with the fair and balanced nonsense.

The people in Congress who are suppose to run the investigation decided not to lie to the FBI and admitted they called the press telling them there is no Russia story. That is important. That should be the lead story, Banning the media is the reaction.

Journalists need only continue to do there job. We know Spicer whose job it is to lie, will not clarify truth in his briefings.

I think the Media should reflect opinion equally
When EVERY outlet supports one faction then you have the seeds of Fascism.    Even Fox did its best to see Donald John defeated.

The establishment is strong, they band together, the last thing they support is democracy.

Good, what is the counter fact regarding the WH asking the chairmen if investigations to smother the Russian story by calling the press and tell them there is no story? They went ahead and did as asked.

THE Opposite of the truth is not an equal reflection of opinion.

All things are not created equal, yet you would consider the lunatic view equal to the mainstream. The 97% of scientists who know that climate change is a real Thing are placed on equal footing with the 3% religious zealots who interpret scripture. We know better than to say it is an actual "debate" between scientists and crackpots. Again, you don't know what you're talking about.

You keep saying things you think are true, hoping if you say them often enough, they will be. If that fascist shoe fits, Ake, wear it.

When Comey and an agent admit to being ordered by the White House to stop investigating and when both Senate and House chairmen admit to the WH pressure to tell the press to lay off the Russia story it is a fact Not an opinion.
Of course they all could recant. And that too would then become a fact if they did so.

Folks this is an impeachable offense.

It is the same offense Nixon was charged as the first reason for his impeachment.

Trading Bannon trump for Pense is no gift.

Jim I suppose you remember the "good old days"...and some not so old days when the UK media mobbed every move towards the political Left, how Mr Corbyn is demonised in every paper, how the establishment howled in in horror and the media snapped into line when the people revolted over the policies of the EU.   Do you remember that Jim, how you used to damn the Fascist Press?

Well quadruple that and you have the American Media....all establishment lackeys to the core.

I presume you would want Kellyann Conway with her "alternative facts" (i.e., LIES) as that "Alternative Voice".

That's not their job. They don't support Holocaust deniers or the KKK either.

I never at any time condemned the press out of hand - nor did I describe it as fascist - certainly not all of it.
o you honestly believe all of this frightening shit has anything to do with truth?
I'm sure you watched as I dis, while Trumps experts declared his inauguration gathering at the White House the largest in American history - up against the to arial shorts of Trump's and Obama's showing Obama's massive lead.
And you would put our right to information in the hands of such a bunch of proven liars?
Trump has banished all but your "establishment lackeys" and replaced them with the likes of Ms Coulter.
I asked what was your alternative - I receive no reply, which was what I predicted.
You are one creepy individual - Mr Goebbels would have cherished your support

Not all of them do anyway - Trump is just removing the ones that don't support his establishment - you bloody well know that, which is why you won't give us your alternative
You rally are a fascist - and that is an analysis, not an insult

Once Obama had 2 reporters barred from one briefing over bad decorum issues.

He did not ban the LA Times NYTimes BBC Guardian Politico Daily Mail NYPost CNN and others as Trump did to hush the Russian Mess.

Who is next?

You suppose Jeff Sessions was told to stand down but never recuse himself?

Only Democratic Party organizations must be barred?
Perhaps Democrats will be decreed illegal like the Communist party was.

If Ake is happy to shut up and obey remember he was only following orders.

Trying to work out what this is all about here. I get that trump gvt has banned some news outlets. So does this mean that joe public won't know what's going on ? Or that the press won't have a say in what the trump admin should do ? Or that they won't be able to put questions / accusations to him ?   And how does this make him like hitler ?

"There are very good articles in it [the US Constitution]: and very bad. I do not know which preponderate. What we have lately read in the history of Holland, in the chapter on the Stadtholder, would have sufficed to set me against a Chief magistrate eligible for a long duration, if I had ever been disposed towards one: and what we have always read of the elections of Polish kings should have forever excluded the idea of one continuable for life. Wonderful is the effect of impudent and persevering lying. The British ministry have so long hired their gazetteers to repeat and model into every form lies about our being in anarchy, that the world has at length believed them, the English nation has believed them, the ministers themselves have come to believe them, and what is more wonderful, we have believed them ourselves. Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusets? And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it's motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20. years without such a rebellion. The people can not be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independant 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure. Our Convention has been too much impressed by the insurrection of Massachusets: and in the spur of the moment they are setting up a kite to keep the hen yard in order. I hope in god this article will be rectified before the new constitution is accepted."
-- Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, Paris, 13   Nov. 1787

I dont think being dismissive of pete is a good enough answer, so i wll spell it out a bit as I see it.

Leave the current administration aside for the moment and think of all politicians everywhere. How often do they admit they have done something wrong or step down over an offence before it is the public eye? Even when they apologise in Parliament or elsewhere you will see their and their collegues statements are much more "Sorry for being found out" than "sorry for doing wrong." It would be better if politicians stepped down when they did wrong, but they don't. For that reason mechanisms to hold them to account are vital. And for all its faults, that is one of the main roles of the media.

By restricting the media to only those "on your side" you stop this happening and so free the politicians from any form of critical assessment. And this is one part of the first amendment: it forbids any law infringing the freedom of the press. Unfortunately the people who framed the amendments were lawyers so it did not occur to them that there are plenty of other ways of infringing the freedom of the press without creating laws. Nevertheless it is clear the intention was to ensure the goverment did not interfere with a free press.

The President has also made noises saying he wants all sources to be identified. Cast your mind back (if needs be) to when you were say 30. Imagine you have strong grounds to believe your boss is committing a crime - fraud or embezzlement perhaps. You do not have photographic evidence. Are you prepared to go public and risk not only your job but also all your future career? A few are, but most of us are not that brave. An anonomous means of alerting people to this is essential, or the crime continues undiscovered. The press have always been one of these options. Cutting this will, as Trump said, cause a lot of the stories to dry up. But it will not stop the crime and it will allow more.

Of course the media is far from perfect and often frankly despicable: no one says otherwise. It would be great if it did more investigative journalism and less froth. But even with all its faults it performs a role vital to an effective democracy.

Nice post "D", but the present power of the entertainment and news media was never visualised decades ago.

When that power is concentrated on one side of the equation it becomes a sort of tyranny in itself.

These threads are a microcosm of the national picture, where infantile lists of insults take the place of reasoned discussion.

The West as a power block is in decline, there is a new world order being formed, we need to get up to speed in order to take our place within it.

Reasoned argument requires to and fro response
You refuse to qualify your support for Trump and you have yet to explain what you would put in place of the media you are happy to see cencord by the World's most dangerous fascist.
How is "reasoned discussion" possible in the face of such dishonest cowardice?

Aside from the fact that "the establishment" is a hazy concept at best, Trump is solidly a member of whatever it is. Just because a few fellow-denizens thereof have recognised that he's a thuggish thicko doesn't mean he's out of the club. Surely one of the most vital pillars of the establishment is the capitalist system. Anyone care to deny that he's one of capitalism's staunchest champions? If not, tell me how he made his dough!

Now here we have a pretty puerile suggestion - since the discussion is ABOUT the current administration.

you appear to think a huge section of the US electorate are very stupid indeed...

Well Ake, lets take a look at that. Leaving aside for the moment the fact that a yuuuuge section of the U.S. electorate beileves that Ex-Prez Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya, and a thousand other examples, I give you the yuuuge section of the U.S. electorate that believes that Trump's inauguration crowd was the largest ever - despite incontrovertible evidence that it wasn't.

Now if that isn't very stupid indeed I don't know what would be.

Less than half of Americans wants Trump to be Trump.
Trump wants to be a dictator. Even GWB said being President would be much easier for a dictator to run America

What do dictators do? They shut down and replace the press. They Ban. They imprison and often murder. Fear does the rest for all but the brave and the martyrs.

With all we know about dictators how long will this go on? How far will the destruction (deconstruction) of democracy go on"

When dictators become the establishment there is hell to pay for decades. The innocent suffer. The guilty crawl back into society and find like minded solace as they did in Germany.

Thanks Dmcg for your thoughtful and reasoned response. I do have some questions though to clarify. Does this move by trump mean that the press outlets in question will not know what happened and was said . That they will not be allowed to write editorials expressing their opinions and political bias . Or that the secret police will be on their doorstep ?    The foregoing has , and still is the norm in many states that don't get to vote a new head of state or president in every few years .   Is this , perhaps less than best directive , really worthy of hitler and totalitarian states comparison ?

Where did Trump get his money? He inherited millions and then proceeded to turn those millions into billions.

On the power of the press thing.

How many people think that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was carried out because Saddam Hussein had WMD?

How many people think that Tony Blair stated that Iraq could strike the UK with WMD within 45 minutes?

MSM were responsible for both misrepresentations - nobody said either.

Iraq was invaded and occupied because Iraq under Saddam Hussein was refusing to comply with the terms and conditions of the Safwan Ceasefire Agreement - the invasion was to ensure and verify beyond all doubt that Iraq DID NOT have any WMD.

It was a British tabloid newspaper The Sun who came out with the 45 minute story, completely misrepresenting what Tony Blair had said in Parliament about the time it takes to arm munitions with WMD and have them ready for use. Saddam could not strike the UK, his military just did not have the capability, but he could strike British Sovereign Territory in Cyprus.

On both those stories had the press simply reported the story faithfully relaying what people had said then there would have been no misunderstandings. Instead they reported what they thought people had said - different thing entirely.

Teribus, we don't KNOW that Trump turned millions into billions. He has lost close to a billion, we know that from one leak that showed he hasn't paid taxes in years, but until he releases his taxes there is no further material from which to extrapolate. He may be close to broke and just be hiding it.

Greg F, you left something unsaid in this explanation: Leaving aside for the moment the fact that a yuuuuge section of the U.S. electorate beileves that Ex-Prez Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya, and a thousand other examples, I give you the yuuuge section of the U.S. electorate that believes that Trump's inauguration crowd was the largest ever - despite incontrovertible evidence that it wasn't. The crackpot dentist Orly Taitz may have started it, but Trump picked it up and ran with it for years - so his cockeyed behavior "informed" his many television fans to begin with. He worked to spoil the Obama presidency - the press was all over that one though, and easily proved that Obama was a full-fledged US citizen. And Trump's still playing to that TV fanbase with the arguments that the press is telling fake stories. Those viewers evidently think his showmanship is truth telling of some sort, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Ake is arguing all of these points just to argue. He's finding a whole bunch of willing participants in these threads. You need to stop feeding the troll, just don't acknowledge his presence or answer his questions and it won't become part of the thread, just a blip people skip over.

Yes, It means exactly that. They will get any press releases, of course, but they won't get the chance either to ask questions themselves or to hear answers given to others. For those they are not able to make their interpretation of the answers, but at best an interpretation of someone else's interpretation and only that if the other person - who is essentially their competitor, remember- is willing to give it.

Assume the first amendment is not some idle whim, but that the authors' thought it so important that the freedom of the press was not infringed in any way that they altered the constitution to enforce it. As an exercise, try writing ten sentences why they might think that. Then for each reason decide whether prohibiting some media works with or against that reason.

Completely disagree Stu. There is a difference between "the man" and "the Office" he holds. The Office demands that respect is automatically shown to it, that Office being the most powerful on this planet - you do not ever approach the holder of that office as though he or she is "just one of the boys", or patronise it, or treat it with condescension which is exactly what Sopel did - respect does not equate with "like" it never has and once the election is won it is never a popularity contest.

Stu is correct, and Teribus has just illustrated the problem. The office should be treated with respect, but the office holder isn't capable of that himself. He's playing with the tools handed to him without understanding how they really work and has already wounded himself in the process. He appears to be playing at being president.

His haphazard approach to moving into the residence of the president, and his apparent lack of connectedness to the People's House as the powerful tool it was designed to be is disturbing. Reports that he hasn't moved in with personal furnishings, that he rattles around fairly empty rooms with only their existing furnishings and watches TV and tweets at night while his family remains in New York City; his expensive weekly trips to the opulent club in Florida where he hosts foreign visitors. Do they really want to see the gilt facade and outsized veneered-MDF venue that is Mar A Lago when they come to the US, or do they want to visit the gem that represents the seat of our power, the White House? Only an over-heated little Scotsman spouting hyperbole would fail to see the the difference.

Couldn't agree more, but that does not give others leave to do the same and act disrespectfully. It also should not come as any great surprise or shock either. The US has elected somebody to the "Office" who has no political experience whatsoever - that is the accident waiting to happen when your rules state that anyone born in the USA can stand for election - utterly bloody ridiculous notion - the job is just simply too damned nuanced and complex to allow that.

Teribus is correct. Due to the power of the establishment and their friends in the news and entertainment media any real political systemic change in the US or the UK is all but impossible.
At the moment, the only alternative is to go for peak efficiency in the present system and that involves rejection of most of the inane "liberal" agenda which does so much to make our respective countries uncompetitive and results in the creation of "fake jobs" which are unable to sustain a proper standard of living for normal families.
We must stop relying on "cheap" immigrant labour and make sure that there are jobs available that pay a decent wage to our own young folks.
Wealth creators must be encouraged, and that will not happen by soaking the rich, hence the need for the lowering of tax rates for industrial development.

We just cannot afford to stick with the posturing "liberal" status quo any longer and thankfully, at long last the voting public are beginning to understand that......all over the West.

It is interesting that now Trump has taken steps to please some of those who voted for him by putting some of his most extreme populist measures (Mexico and immigration) into motion, his team has announced that the more progressive ones "won't happen this year" - probably not until it is time to rehash them as promises at the next election (if he allows there to be another)

Right before Trump took office, Obama declassified much of the Russian association with Trump with disseminating the information far and wide among senators and agencies so it would not be easily scrubbed or lost.
Without tipping his hand Franken baited and trapped Sessions.

This is like when the Star report had the salacious cigar story and passed in to Republicans and Trent Lott presented Clinton with a box of cigars and a leering laugh.

Dershowitz wants a commission like a 9-11 committee but Schumer wants an independent prosecutor like Star.

The known Russian story is being slow walked partly because we do not know the big dollar quid quo pro part of the story and are waiting for the Trump folks to crack. Reading between the lines are not enough.

Hundreds of millions is known to have come to Trump from RUSSIAN OLIGARCHS but the PUTIN OIL DEAL UPON RELAXING SANCTIONS needs a bit more proof. So far election help is proven but not the hundred billion dollar deal.

So far 4 Russian intelligence agents have ben killed and a Russian ambassador to the US is now dead. The Trump administration still has people who can tell tales.

Democrats are loaded for BEAR.

When dictators make the press an enemy along with the courts and intelligence parts of their Army they need only a reason to declare Martial law and assume total unreviewable power.

We better hurry before a huge Trump administration 9-11 event and martial law is announced.

Martial law is like a check mate on the country.

Hey you Brits, you too were blind to Russian intrigue in your own country.

Yes, thank you Snail there are many similarities between Mrs May and Mrs Thatcher, most importantly both have been given the job of changing the direction of capitalism.
Mrs Thatcher had millions heading to redundancy as the uncompetitive manufacturing and heavy industry faltered .....these industries were not being run efficiently....everyone after a slice of the cake, unions out on strike every week, but we all know the capitalist system does not operate like that, try to regulate it or cut profits, the money moves on.

Mrs May has the job of overseeing a return to an economy based on real trade, where we are dealing with real jobs, real work for our youth.....huge retraining programmes giving back some pride and sense of worth to generations institutionalised by the benefit system or struggling on short term contracts.

Capitalism is nothing if not adaptable, I also think Mrs May is an extremely able politician who may even achieve the political stature of Mrs Thatcher.

"Well Mrs May seems to get on rather well with President Donal-John and you think HE is a Fascis"
Lets see how she attempts to appease his fascism
There is no doubt of what Thatcher was - she decare that the mass murder theat was going on in Chile was "democracy", she moved heaven and earth to prevent Pinochet from coming to trail for his crimes and she accused those who wished to bring him to trail as "running a police state"
She even organised a rally attended by her extremely embarrassed cabinet, where she and others declared their support for this dictator, complete wit crossed British and Chilean flags
What else would you describe it.
Trump enlisted the aid of a foreign power to win n election, he won that election by setting one group of Americans against the other, using "security" as an excuse, he deliberately targetted five Muslim nations, carefully omitting the one which financed and provided terrorists for 9/11.
He is running roughshod over the American constitution and denigrating his own security services and justice system - he is even attempting to control information on his actions.
In the process, those neared=st to him are dropping like flies.
Fascism, by anybody's book, albeit in its early days
You refuse to comment on any of this other than to give it your blanket support - making you.....
No prizes for guessing.
As far as I am concerned, your attitude to homosexuality, your demands that mass murderer Breivik, your insistence that refugees should be forced to ear identification tags long after even the right wing gutter press had condemned it has long identified what you are.
Your description of a new day dawning and tor presenting America's shrillest and most vitriolic media mouthpiece, Ann Coulter, the darling of the Klan, as a serious journalist with something to say (like Breivik)
Your persistent use of her hatred of "liberals" makes you and her soulmates.
I confess, when I was young I over-used the term 'fascism'
Since I took the trouble to learn the definition I tend to say it when I see it - I saw it in Thatcher - I certainly say it in her friend Pinochet - I see it in Trump, and I see it in you.
I don't think I am being unfair to any of you
If I have "lost the plot" I haven't lost my humanity, nor have I lost my respect for and understanding of Socialism.
If Britain had adopted the attitude the same attitude to towards refugees in the thirties taht yoiu abd yours are doing towards thiose same refugees now, there would have been a lot less Jews than there are today
I remind myself of that fact everytime you go on one of your "liberal" rants
Again - I expect no coherent response to any of this - that's not what you do.
It doesn't matter -it's not for your benefit

Nothing to see here folks, its just a bit of confusion, Jeffery Beauregard Sessions will recuse himself from campaign investigations.
He says he BELIEVES he has no idea what questions about Russia is all about 3 days after the scandal broke in the NYT.

The actions favorable to Putin after taking office are a more serious matter. An independent prosecutor will be able to look at this matter as a whole while a Congressional investigation would be focused just on the campaign. A Commission would have even more leeway but could remain closed to public scrutiny and stay classified.

What we will know will be very tightly controlled. Could a US President be charged with treason for money? Not bloody likely.

Jim Comey has chosen a curious time to be tight lipped now.

The 'what if' questions abound in a sea of lies. What if it was Comey who should recuse himself as well?

They are not disgusting slurs - they are an analysis of your politics taken from your own statements,
People like you have no problem describing me as "leftie" or "member of a pack" or "liberal" used abusively
None of these are strictly accurate, and tthey are fairly commonplace, but I don't whinge about them - I try to refute them with arument (not threats of argument - like you)
The answer is simple - respond to arguments instead of acting as a mindless mouthpiece for the monsters you support
Did you not say what I claim you said about mass-murderer Breivik?
Do you not launch into an attack on homosexuals whenever the opportunity arises, long after the civilised world has moved on and embraced homosexuality as a natural human condition - have you not described them as disease carriers?
Did you not insist that refugees should be forced to wear identification tags long after even the gutter press had compared them to 'Jewish Yellow Stars"?
Have you not ceaselessly targeted refugees fleeing from wards Britain helped to start?
Did you not try to pass of Ann Coulter - the darling of the K.K.K., as a serious commentator on current affairs, using what she had to say as argument for the Thug you support?
Do you not continue to root for a man whose fascism fits the definition perfectly
DO YOU NOT IGNORE REQUESTS TO JUSTIFY THAT SUPPOORT BY RESPONDING TO WHAT HE IS DOING?
I make nothing up - I respond to what you say and what you refuse to say.
Feel free to produce any lie I have told - I don't lie - I don't see the point
Awkward arguments are not lies, they are merely inconvenient - take a look at what you say - it's what makes you what you are - not me, or anybody else

I did not say Breivik was "worth listening to", I said he was a mad man who was also a symptom of unregulated immigration into a small country, causing serious societal problems.

I do not "attack" homosexuals, hate homosexuals, or fear homosexuals, my view is that sexual intercourse between males is extremely dangerous and unhealthy and should not be promoted by legislation.
I produce horrific health figures to back up my view. produced not by me. but by the premier health agencies worldwide.

These are the actions which often occur when a people lose their voice, or are unable to make their feelings known.
Example the use of words like racist, homophobe, bigot here on Mudcat to shut down debate.....and most here are reasonable, intelligent, sane.
How do the less literate come to terms with these problems?
There are great numbers of people in our society and in the US who disagree strongly with the policies of parties which are to all intents and purposes indistiguishable from one another.
For years they have been ramming through poisonous policies against which the ordinary folk have no redress.
Example..a couple of years ago anyone who suggested a cap on immigration here was branded a racist and a bigot.....now this has been accepted by every party as necessary.
We now need to tackle the failed notion of "multiculturalism" along with many other social idiocies.

"I do not "attack" homosexuals, hate homosexuals, or fear homosexuals, my view is that sexual intercourse between males is extremely dangerous and unhealthy and should not be promoted by legislation."
THat's what I said - you target a large number of people who are different to you
THak youu for confirming that so succinctly
Your attitude to the identification tags is what it is - a support of the wearing of "yellow star" type insignia after it had been officially identified and condemned as dangerous to the wearer
"Ann Coulter, one of the most popular authors and commentators on the right of US politics ...worth listening to."
She is a racist supporter of Trump who has suggested publicly the poisoning of his opponents.
Making her "worth listening to" confirms what you are - thanks for that.

PRESIDENT'S SON-IN-LAW MET PUTIN ENVOY AT TRUMP TOWER
United States
Rhys Blakely Washington

The White House revealed further contacts between senior advisers and the Russian ambassador yesterday, hours after President Trump complained of a witch-hunt against his administration.
Officials confirmed that Jared Kushner, Mr Trump's son-in-law and one of his closest confidants, met Sergey Kislyak in a previously undisclosed 20-minute meeting in Trump Tower in New York last December.
Mike Flynn, the retired general who resigned last month as national security adviser after he misrepresented his conversations with Mr Kislyak, was also present.
Contacts between Russian offi¬cials and Trump campaign staff are the subject of investigations by the FBI and two congressional intelli¬gence committees. They are exam¬ining alleged Kremlin meddling in last November's presidential elect¬ion.
It emerged that Mr Kislyak also met two other Trump campaign advisers during the Republican national convention in July: Carter Page, a former banker who has advised on Russian energy deals and who lived in Moscow for several years, and J D Gordon, who was a national security adviser to Mr Trump.
It is not unusual for foreign diplomats to have contact with presidential campaigns, and the Department of State funded an initiative to bring foreign ambassadors to the Republican and Democrat political conventions last summer.
The White House, however, has repeatedly downplayed the Trump campaign's contacts with Russian officials. The issue threatened to overshadow a speech Mr Trump made to Congress on Tuesday, where he laid out an ambitious programme of spend¬ing increases and cuts that will face re¬sistance from fiscal conservatives.
Jeff Sessions, the attorney-general, said on Thursday that he would step away from any investigation- into Kremlin meddling in the election after it emerged that he had spoken to Mr Kislyak twice, in July and September. Mr Sessions was criticised by Democrats for telling a Senate
confirmation hearing in January that he did not "have communications with the Russians" while acting as a surrogate for the Trump campaign.
Mr Sessions said that he would give a formal clarification to his Senate testi¬mony. He added that his conversation with the Russian ambassador had covered terrorism and Ukraine. He said he did not accept an invitation to lunch from the ambassador.
In a series of tweets yesterday Mr Trump said that his attorney-general had been the victim of witch-hunt. "Jeff Sessions is an honest man. He did not say anything wrong. He could have stated his response more accurately, but it was clearly not intentional... The real story is all of the illegal leaks of classified and other information. It is a total 'witch-hunt!'"
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, said: "All this is very much reminiscent of a witch-hunt and the McCarthyism era that we all thought was long gone." Sarah Isgur Flores, a spokeswoman for Mr Sessions, said that the attorney-general did not meet Mr Kislyak as a Trump supporter but in his former capacity as a member of the Senate armed services committee.

Rules and laws are not trumps strong suit.

We have a FISA court that can allow the 'tapping' of aliens speaking to aliens but once an American is on the line they are supposed to stop. However if there is a warrant to listen to the American the recording keeps going.

I do not know about the type of FISA warrant used here but lets assume Flynn had no warrant on him. That means someone broke the rule and then leaked the information possibly due to a preponderance of conscience.

This is still a lot of assumptions but this explanation is more straight forward than saying "Obama and his people did it".

Meanwhile 11 billion dollars of tax payer money is given to Private Prisons to detain the undocumented under Trumps deportation policy , up by 500%. 3,500 Latinos are increasing to 20,000 in these private prisons and factories.

Maybe a further investigation is needed into a lot of corruption.

Although Trump provided no information that he may have been monitored, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) stated that the president may want to lawyer up.

"Mr. President: If there was a wiretap at Trump Tower, that means a fed judge found probable cause of crime which means you are in deep shit," Lieu wrote. After providing a link to a Washington Post article on Trump's tweets and the fallout, Lieu took it a step further.

"Either @realDonaldTrump is paranoid like Nixon, or judge found probable cause of crime for #wiretap. Either way our President is in trouble," he wrote.

This morning Trump went berserk, tweeting a series of bizarre accusations charging that former president Barack Obama orchestrated a "Nixon/Watergate" plot to tap the phones at his Trump Tower headquarters last fall in the run-up to the election. Citing no evidence, he said the former president was a "Bad (or sick) guy!"

Folks, we've got a huge problem on our hands. Either:

1. Trump is more nuts than we suspected -- a true paranoid.

2. Or he's correct, in which case there's probable cause that he committed treason. A president can't order a wiretap. For federal agents to obtain a wiretap on Trump's phone conversations, the Justice Department would first have had to convince a federal judge that it had gathered sufficient evidence that there was probable cause to believe that Trump had committed a serious crime or was an agent of a foreign power, depending on whether it was a criminal or foreign intelligence wiretap.

3. Or Trump's outburst was triggered by a commentary on Breitbart News reporting an assertion Thursday night by rightwing talk-radio host Mark Levin suggesting Obama and his administration used "police state" tactics last fall to monitor the Trump team's dealings with Russian operatives. If this was the source of Trump's ravings this morning, we've got a president willing to put the prestige and power of his office behind a baseless claim emanating from rightwing purveyors of lies.

So there you have it -- either he's paranoid, he likely committed treason, or he's making judgments based on rightwing crackpots. Each of them is as worrying as the other.

Bobad, Its a YUGE problem.

No one is a bigger better (worse) liar, traitor or treasonous President than Donald.

I wouldn't blame the Secret Service for asking for assistance from the National Guard.

A desperate and wounded animal is dangerous.
That goes for Donald as well as his opponents.

As for his supporters, they have 2 words, 'fake news'.

The yuge unforeseen new problems are as follows.

Although Sessions is recused, new law specifies only him as the man to choose a special prosecutor.
Democrats will be unhappy with this politically as well as a Republican Congressional Investigation. That leaves, as I have said, an independent Commission which would be as classified as the Warren or 9-11 Commission.

Meanwhile intelligence agencies continue their work along with sleuths, but to be fair there is NO official investigation.

With 48% of Americans becoming displeased that their hero is an accused traitor by fake news, I am guessing a Commission that holds findings classified will be used to soothe worries about insurrection.
Alan Dershowitz agrees with me on this commission route.

In the long long run, while Trump keeps inadvertently implicating himself I bet that lesser scape goats will be sacrificed and the true findings sealed.

As for Trump, he is smart enough to chose the option with no prison time. As Red said (sic.) meet the new President Pense similar to the old President.

Like gillymor said, I am not kidding...but the future is not written in stone.

Was this the payback for Putin's help in the election?

The GOP platform change on UKR is a smoking gun, as I said at the time. Russia edited it through Trump & his team. https://t.co/9dB8NC8d0j https://t.co/d2MveZmbZg

In this Russian Game of Thorns and the US oily olive branch saga, imagine you are Putin. You have lost all hope that your useful idiot is too idiotic to be helpful anymore.

Putin has killed 4 intelligence agents we know of and is spending big bucks looking for Steele.

Trump is ahead with only two cabinet members ruined.

In this case there is a silver lining......but its made of Plutonium.

One good thing Trump is doing is he's illustrating the fact a written constitution is not the best way to define law and government and an albatross around the neck of any civilised country. You can yell about breaches of constitution or amendments or whatever but the truth is constitutions are wide open to individual interpretation and abuse; the founding fathers never meant for the mass slaughter of innocents to occur because of their laws on keeping guns, but that's what's happening and the constitution allows it, at least according to the loons who seem to dictate the way that part of the constitution is interpreted.

"So an anarchic, ad hoc approach is somehow better? How, pray?"

Er, did I suggest it was? Burn your straw man.

There's more than one way to run a country and an unwritten constitution is one; the US constitution is inflexible and anachronistic and whilst there is plenty of stuff to be admired within it, there is no doubt it's open to interpretation and is used to bolster beliefs and dogmas that have no place in the modern world if the human race his never to process.

It's unquestionable and used to silence any alternative views. See: guns.

You overlook the Magna Carta?

The current popular interpretation of "to bear arms" doesn't mean the Constitution stifles alternative views. It means that the high dollar gun lobby has influenced a lot of people to accept a certain reading of it. And that lobby stifles all naysayers.

So did King John and his successor Henry III.
Anyway, its purpose was to take power out of the hands of the king and put it in the hands of the barons.

"Magna Carta?

".........its purpose was to take power out of the hands of the king and put it in the hands of the barons."

That might well have been it's purpose, only thing was that was not the way it was written and the "unintended" and unconsidered fall-out of that was that via the Magna Carta the PEOPLE of England acquired rights. The power of the Monarch was not formally shackled until 1688 and the arrival of William of Orange.

"In the United Kingdom, the Bill of Rights is further accompanied by Magna Carta, the Petition of Right, the Habeas Corpus Act 1679 and the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949 as some of the basic documents of the uncodified British constitution. A separate but similar document, the Claim of Right Act 1689, applies in Scotland. The Bill of Rights 1689 was one of the inspirations for the United States Bill of Rights."

Anyone with decades of institutional experience has been fired.
There are no more historic anti Russian/Putin voices left.

A question to Teribus;

What is wrong with having a POTUS who is a devoted Putin advocate and Russian Spy?

Just think Donuel what might have happened had GWB done the same in 2001. Those who acted as his advisors and pushed for action against Iraq were the same experienced personnel who had advised Bill Clinton throughout 1997 and 1998 to do the same thing (The phrase "Axis of evil" came from a Clinton speech in February 1998) and set regime change in Iraq as official US foreign policy (The Iraq Act late summer 1998).

And the proof that the current POTUS is a Russian spy is what exactly? If it is anywhere near as compelling as your proof that Lt-Cdr John McCain was responsible for the fire on the USS Forrestal then I think the less you prattle on about it the better.

Nothing wrong with the POTUS being prepared to talk to Putin, far better that than have the likes of Obama posturing without stating where the boundaries lie and giving out signals that even if crossed the US would still not act. Putin knew he could away with anything after the Syrian Gas attack in 2012. Now he's not quite sure - best to keep the bastard guessing - both the Russians and the Chinese know that even if they both kicked the traces over the US is still militarily too strong for them to win - your current President has stated that he is going to ensure that it stays that way.

Take it that the answer to my question is that since banning certain media organisations NO-ONE has been banned from the White House. Simple enough question, wonder why it was so difficult to get an honest answer.
