Subject: RE: Folklore: Brumagem screwdriver - alternative to? From: GUEST,kenny Date: 01 Mar 17 - 09:52 AM I heard the reference to a "Glasgow screwdriver" over 40 years ago, in Perthshire, so it's been arounf for a while, and not just in Edinburgh. Latest one I heard was when a big bowl of crisps was handed round the musicians in a session, and an accordion player from Glasgow said, "Ah a Glasgow salad" :) |

From: GUEST Date: 02 Mar 17 - 07:43 AM Somewhere I heard an Oz song about a swaggie with the lines: "A flamin' good breakfast before headin' off; Billy tea, a roley and a bloody good cough...." Actually, it might have been a Kiwi song,"flaming" being a somewhat more common adjective in NZ than in Oz. Dunno why it stuck in my memory; probably because I used to have that breakfast menu myself...before I discovered coffee. |
