Subject: Nic Jones Title Album, Tuning? From: GUEST,King Knapperty Date: 11 Apr 17 - 01:53 AM In Nic Jones' first (I think?) album which contains songs such as the Duke of Marlborough, and William and Nancy's Parting, is the album all in Standard Tuning or are there some open tuning songs in there? |

Subject: RE: Nic Jones Title Album, Tuning? From: GUEST,radriano Date: 11 Apr 17 - 04:34 PM I know he used an open C tuning on some songs. Kind of like DADGAD but a full step lower. |
Subject: RE: Nic Jones Title Album, Tuning? From: The Sandman Date: 11 Apr 17 - 05:09 PM Ido not think that was the case with the first lp |

Subject: RE: Nic Jones Title Album, Tuning? From: GUEST,Jude G Date: 12 Apr 17 - 07:50 AM According to Mike Raven's 'English Folk Guitar' book, 'William and Nancy's Parting' is in DGDGAD, and 'Dance to your Daddy' is in DADGAD. Why not ask Nic himself through his website for more details? I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige. |
Subject: RE: Nic Jones Title Album, Tuning? From: GUEST,Jude G Date: 12 Apr 17 - 08:05 AM Ballads and Songs was his first solo album, 'Duke of Marlborough' was on that one (standard tuning, according to Mike Raven's book) and 'Annan Water'(DGDGBD), 'Sir Patrick Spens' (DADEAE), 'Don't You Be Foolish, Pray' (standard tuning). |

From: GUEST,King Knapperty Date: 24 Apr 17 - 02:15 AM Interesting, The way I've been playing William and Nancy's parting is in standard and seems to sound almost exactly like it, but that is interesting. Duke of Marlborough as well I can make out in Standard. Can I just ask why he used so many different tunings? Seems labourious to switch between guitars or tune between songs. Was it really necessary for each song to have a different tuning? |
