One thing I remember about mid 1950s when at Colindale School was a large smooth area of asphelt in front of Woolworths, which we called "The Black", were we used to race our Dinky racing cars and later used it for roller skating!!

I lost/sold/broke mine many years ago. My Dad would oil the wheels for me so that they went further!

Good luck with the Colindale Folk Club.

On Monday 12th June we will be welcoming The Foxglove Trio to the Colindale Folk Club. They are a group of multi-instrumentalists who perform mostly traditional songs from around the British Isles in English and Welsh.

"This talented trio deliver a delightful variety of music and song in both English and Welsh. Their arrangements are really fresh and inventive. This Foxglove deserves to flower on both sides of the border" - Frank Hennessy, BBC Radio Wales

The Return of the Rambling Valentines
Monday 10th July 2017
Their performance last December was a great success and so I had no hesitation in asking for them to return to the Colindale Folk Club stage. Bronwyn, Glyn and Trevor provide beautiful arrangements of an eclectic mix of acoustic songs recorded over the last forty years.

Emily Mae Winters is a poetic singer songwriter, influenced by the likes of Gillian Welch, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Sarah Jarosz and Kate Rusby; her music splits the difference between the gentle seas of folk and country.

Return of the Hoskin

Bernard impressed me with his great singing and intricate and effortless guitar playing and returns on Monday 11th September, a year after his first appearance at the folk club. He is a stalwart of the English folk scene and will play a mixture of original and traditional folk songs.

On Monday 8th the Colindale Folk Club will start the New Year with Daria Kulesh and Jonny Dyer. We have had both members of this new combination perform here before; Daria sang solo last January and Jonny has headlined twice before with his regular musical partner Vicki Swan.
http://www.daria-kulesh.co.uk/with-jonny-dyer

"Daria's 'truly extraordinary voice' and rich stories told in song, combined with Jonny's spectacular instrumental skills and composing/arranging talent. A match made in musical heaven."

I look forward to discovering how these two talents will merge together.

We will have floor spots as per usual starting at 8:30, get in touch if you want to take part.

Lea Nicholson and Naomi Randall at the Colindale Folk Club - Monday 12th February

"Lea Nicholson & Naomi Randall play acoustic and electric odd folk, originals and covers to the light of the silvery moon. An array of instruments and vocal harmonies that will knock your socks off."
http://www.nicholsonrandall.co.uk

I first saw them play at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell last October. They introduced one of their songs "The Rest of the Day's Your Own" with the words "We have promised ourselves that if we ever get this song right, we will stop playing it." I hope that they have not got it right yet as it was very enjoyable.

We will have two talented newcomers doing floor spots starting at 8:30. Free entry, good food, friendly pub.

Hamish Currie at the Colindale Folk Club 10th Sept 2018

On Hamish's last visit he succeeded in getting us to sing
along and also to perform some hand actions. I felt most un-
Londoner like. He has a great voice and collection of songs.
www.hamishcurrie.me.uk

"Well I told you you shouldn't miss our spotlight guest,
Hamish Currie, didn't I...? What a great performance he gave
us, and such a variety of songs & influences... from Elvis
Costello to trad ballads... on guitar, ukulele or solo
unaccompanied... All quality material and all performed with
deceptive ease and confidence..." - Newport Lyceum Folk Club

Floor spots start at 8:30. Free entry, good food and a
friendly pub - the Chandos Arms, 31 Colindale Avenue,
Colindale, NW9 5DS.
The pub is a finalist for Best Live Entertainment Pub.
