Subject: Chippenham Folk Festival Sessions From: GUEST Date: 11 May 17 - 04:02 PM Off to the Chippenham festival in a couple of weeks as everyone we meet who has been in the past seems to rave about it. Where should we head for tune or mixed sessions. We play pretty well anything but not really in to full on Irish. Any guidance would be appreciated. Also, for what it's worth, we'll have a dog in tow. Though he's pretty laid back and certainly not bothered about genres etc. |

Subject: RE: Chippenham Folk Festival Sessions From: Mr Red Date: 11 May 17 - 06:00 PM noon sessions: recent years there has been the organised sessions in the Bear. Irish is in the Old Road Tavern. And there is often one in the garden, which is probably not Irish, but pretty ad hoc. The New Inn (Old Road) has had sessions in the past but not been in recent years so can't say. There might be a session opposite the Butter Market. The noon ceilidhs will be there, weather permitting. Not sure about evening sessions - I am always in the ceilidhs (if not in the French). If you like French then Sunday night in the barn of the Old Road Tavern is the place to be, but get there early (say 7:30ish to get a seat), and we dance so don't steal the bouree area! There ain't much of it as it is. If you spot me - say hello. |
