From the "Times Standard" 2011, Eureka, California

Stephen Hillenburg
Graduating in 1984 from Humboldt State University with a marine resources degree, Hillenburg went on to create the award-winning animated series "SpongeBob SquarePants."
"When I remember my time in Humboldt, I remember rain, Top Ramen and the library," Hillenburg said. "I'm kidding, but the rain is significant because without it there would be no redwoods."
Hillenburg can't help but give credit to the great Humboldt outdoors and high-quality education he received from HSU.
"Humboldt has incredibly rigorous science programs," he said. "It has dedicated teachers and students. Fortunately for me the school is not only surrounded by redwood forests, but it sits along an incredible part of the California coast. There are bays, estuaries, undeveloped coastline and open ocean and, of course, the school utilizes the availability of these resources in their courses. One time my biology class went into the mountains to collect stream organisms. We were collecting insects in this tiny stream and under this rock we found a 3-foot lamprey eel!"
It was after Hillenberg graduated that he had an epiphany to pursue his creativity. Hillenberg decided to earn his master of fine arts degree from the California Institute of the Arts.
"I blossomed as a painter in Humboldt," he said. "I had art faculty members saying 'Why are you studying science? You're an artist!'. I had no idea how my interests were going to converge. They did about 10 years later when I created 'SpongeBob.' When I talk to school kids I always emphasize that they should follow their interests...you never know where they will lead you."
The man behind "SpongeBob" pitched his show idea to Nickelodeon in 1996 based on a comic book he had written and characters he'd developed ("SpongeBob's" original name was "Sponge, the Boy," but that name was copyrighted). Nickelodeon bought the pitch and his series premiered in 1999. Since then, the Emmy award-winning show has won all kinds of prizes, released a movie that grossed $140 million worldwide and has become an international sensation.
Hillenberg still stays in contact with HSU's administration. His foundation, "United Plankton," helped fund HSU's Marine Lab. Recently, he's been working on a festival short-film called "Hollywood Blvd., USA." He's still producing "SpongeBob Squarepants," which just celebrated its 10th anniversary. In addition to creating new "SpongeBob" comics, the TV show was recently picked up for a ninth season. Would he encourage people to attend HSU?
"I wouldn't hesitate to recommend going there," he said.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Is it this one (click), sung by that pirate sort of guy? Part of the melody sounds like "Blow the Man Down."

This Google Search (click) should lead you to what you want.

The show has some pretty good music, and it gets kids to sing.
