STILL AIN'T SATISFIED
(Bonnie Lockhart)

Dm
Well they got women on TV,
but I still ain't satisfied,
'Cause co-optation's all I see
but I still ain't satisfied. A7 Dm
They call me Ms., they sell me blue jeans, A7 Dm
They call it "Women's Lib," they make it sound obscene.

CHORUS:
And I still ain't G
Woa they lied
And I still ain't
Dm G
Woa they lied
And I still ain't
Dm G
Woa they lied Dm G Dm
And I still ain't satisfied.

Well they got women prison guards,
but I still ain't satisfied
With so many still behind bars
I still ain't satisfied.
I don't plead guilt, I don't want no bum deal,
I ain't askin' for crumbs, I want the whole meal.

They liberalized abortion,
but I still ain't satisfied
'Cause it still costs a fortune,
and I still ain't satisfied.
I'm singin' about control of my own womb,
And no reform is gonna change my tune.

They give out pennies here and there,
but I still ain't satisfied
To set up centers for child care
and I still ain't satisfied.
And while we work at slave wages
They brainwash our kids at tender ages.

I got some pride, and I won't be lied to.
I did decide that half way won't do.

Here's Bonnie Lockhart's updated version of "Still Ain't Satisfied."

Still Ain't Satisfied
Rewrite for the 99% Movement
Bonnie Lockhart

Democrats won in Oh Eight, but I still ain't satisfied,
'Cause we still got a corporate state, and I still. . .
It's not the party of the hour
It's the Wall Street gang that's got the power

And I still ain't, woa, they lied (x3)
And I still ain't satisfied.

We're working hard to fight cut backs, but I still. . . .
Until Wells Fargo pays their tax, and I still. . .
If we taxed the banks and the very wealthy
Our safety net would still be healthy. . .

We saw "An Inconvenient Truth" but I still. . .
'Cause carbon's going through the roof, and I still. . .
When lobbies buy our politicians
They will not stop toxic emissions . . .

They say the Iraq war is done, but I still. . .
'Cause they're rattling sabers at Iran, and I still. . .
We don't need war, we don't need empire
Let's let the dove replace the vampire. . .

The women of Occupella uphold the tradition of activist singing here in Northern California. I really enjoy their singing.

"Still Ain't Satisfied" is available on the Red Star Singers album titled The Force of Life, Paredon Records PAR01023, released in 1974. It's available from Smithsonian/Folkways

from the album blurb:
The Red Star Singers were a San Francisco Bay–area group formed in 1971 "out of the needs of four individuals to unify, share, and socialize our personal experiences as musicians and revolutionaries." Members were Gary Lapow (guitar and lead vocals), Ron Rosenbaum (guitar and vocals), Mike Margulis (bass, French horn and vocals), and Bonnie Lockhart (percussion and lead vocals). This 1974 release, their only album recording, reflects their views of the social and political events of the period (Vietnam, Watergate, mine workers' safety). Although recorded in a sound studio, the band invited friends to sit in for several of the selections, most notably for the performance of "Pig Nixon" and "The Force of Life." The liner notes provide a brief biography about the group, the story behind the recording, and the song lyrics with music notation.
