Subject: Folk Festival Listing sites From: JHW Date: 23 Jun 17 - 05:48 AM Who's Festival listing would you recommend. I long had a Folk and Roots button on my browser but that refused one day so I've been using UK Folk Festivals. Now that's barred (Couldn't connect to server becauseThe server requested authentication method unknown to the client) People are forever telling me they've been to festivals I've not heard of. Who does the best list |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Will Fly Date: 23 Jun 17 - 07:43 AM I also got that authentication message. The link below it on my Google page appears to work: https://www.thefestivalcalendar.co.uk/ |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Stanron Date: 23 Jun 17 - 07:50 AM I put Folk Festivals into a search engine and found the one you mentioned. I also found an EFDSS site https://www.efdss.org/whats-on/folk-festivals-2017 which seems ok but does not have links to some actual festival web sites. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: FreddyHeadey Date: 23 Jun 17 - 02:58 PM others I've seen Worldwide Club & Festival map by Chris Rust www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zFcKphOvGxXU.kaygq-TxL-oI&z=8&ll=52.8%2C-2.1 (if it gives you the option, open it in the browser, not 'maps') You'll need to change the layer displayed from clubs to festivals. + info about it https://folkmusicmap.wordpress.com/about-2/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Living Tradition - Festivals List /www.livingtradition.co.uk ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Mudcat's Mr Red's ... focused on the southwest but I bet it's bang up to date http://mister.red/fest.html |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: JHW Date: 24 Jun 17 - 05:55 AM Well here's a thing UK Folk Festivals is coming up again. Looks like the robots sorted themselves out. Thanks all. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Jack Campin Date: 24 Jun 17 - 07:35 PM Folk events in Hungary: http://folkradio.hu/naptar/ and in France (not a well designed page): https://www.facebook.com/groups/135792646473461/ |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Mr Red Date: 25 Jun 17 - 11:10 AM Mr Red's Festival listings a couple of updates, Minehead Musicians Festival - have asked in March and just but have no firm answers. Anything else that isn't listed as this year probably isn't running this year. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: jojofolkagogo Date: 26 Jun 17 - 10:51 AM Well, I go to "www.ukfolkfestivals.co.uk" then click on "The Big List" - works for me. Very up to date so far as I can see |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Jun 17 - 11:23 AM For Scotland, http://www.tmsa.org.uk and download the festival listings. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: FreddyHeadey Date: 13 Mar 18 - 07:51 PM Having looked at all those above, and more, I concur with jojofolkagogo - "www.ukfolkfestivals.co.uk" gives the most festivals and is easiest to follow. http://www.ukfolkfestivals.co.uk/england.php#May the "Big List" gives everything but you can filter that by \ Scotland \ England \ Ireland \ Wales Living Tradition gives nearly as many but I found harder to read - the whole UK, by date http://www.livingtradition.co.uk/festivals/festival-listing This year fRoots is linking to the Spiral Earth site which hasn't been updated from 2017. http://www.frootsmag.com/content/festivals/ The Festival Calendar lists about 25% https://www.thefestivalcalendar.co.uk/country-folk-festivals.ph efdss has about 50% but might be better focused for some? https://www.efdss.org/whats-on/folk-festivals-2018 ~~~~~~~ |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Tattie Bogle Date: 13 Mar 18 - 08:22 PM The Scottish TMSA one only includes those who have paid to advertise in it, so does not cover absolutely all festivals. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: FreddyHeadey Date: 13 Mar 18 - 08:25 PM Imam reliably informed that fRoots IS showing 2018 festivals in the paper version just published. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Mr Red Date: 15 Mar 18 - 07:35 AM all at mister.red festivals (SW England & de Ddywrain Cymru) is as up to date as of March 1st - least ways those that have websites and have updated with 2018 info. eg there will probably be a Gwyl Ifan in Cardiff but IME their info is usually JIT (just in time) map.mister.red gives a clearer picture if you are limiting yourself to a locality. Though it includes Clubs and sessions. Click in the area of interest and see what it shows. As I always say "let me know if you have specific knowledge and can update me" |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Shezinaussie Date: 28 Jan 19 - 12:11 AM The great Mr Red - great to see you are still up and running and doing 'ya thing' - I am planning to come back for a 6 mth 'festival crawl' in 2020, and the search of 'festival sites' took me to your page - you are suitably 'book marked' and will be my reference point - not till 2020 mind you, so will still have to wait till later in the year to get the dates :) |
Subject: RE: Folk Festival Listing sites From: Mr Red Date: 28 Jan 19 - 04:33 AM I do do a trawl when I feel like it but festivals can be quite late, even with just dates for upcoming year. The links to their websites covers the situation a bit. Anyway - if you spot me at a festival - say hello. |
