Subject: Martin Carthy@The Welly: June 29th 2017 From: GUEST,Mike Wilson: The Welly Folk Club Date: 24 Jun 17 - 05:37 AM Hi All, Hope all is well. We are mid way through celebrating our 40th year of organising a continuous weekly folk club on Teesside, and what better way to mark that, than by welcoming the Folk Gaffer, Martin Carthy to The Welly, this coming Thursday, June 29th. Martin has been a regular visitor to our club over all of those years, from the early days back at The Colly....and as well as being a steadfast supporter of all things Welly & Wilsons for over 40+ years, a bit like a great folky uncle!!...he also happens to be arguably the most influential folk musician & singer ever to grace our music scene.....you could say we are quite looking forward to this Thursday. Hope to see some of you there. All are Welly Welcome! Doors: 7.45pm Kick-Off: 8.15pm The Welly meets every Thursday at: The Wellington Inn High Street Wolviston Village County Durham TS22 5JY For all things Welly, see "The Welly" on the gigs page of our website here: The Wilson Family Website Hope to see yous on Thursday and down the road during the Summer Festival Season....Carry on Folking! Cheers, Mike W |
Subject: RE: Martin Carthy@The Welly: June 29th 2017 From: keberoxu Date: 24 Jun 17 - 10:04 PM I fear we shall never again see Martin Carthy west of the Atlantic, except on a broadcast or something. I fondly remember his appearances in Cambridge, Massachusetts some thirty-five years ago. (Was Peter Johnson behind that?) |
